Diablo 4 Season 9 Bugged Master Spellcrafter Journey Task

A Season 9 Journey objective in Diablo 4 is causing confusion, and possibly frustration, among players, as many are unsure if the task description is simply unclear or straight-up broken!

Here is what we know, and how you can technically still complete the quest!

What Exactly Is Happening

As mentioned in the following Reddit thread, when you try to achieve the “Master SpellcrafterSeason Journey tasks, one of them seems to either just not complete itself, or fully reset when you log out:

The task in question asks players to “Use any Infusion Spell to deactivate affixes on monsters” a total of 100 times. Seems simple enough, right? But players on Reddit are reporting that even after deactivating specific affixes, as required by other objectives, their progress on this last “any” version is barely moving.

The person posting the Reddit mentions having already deactivated over 40 different Affixes, yet for the last task it only shows them 6 out of 100.

It is currently unsure if this is just some misunderstanding because the task is unclear, or if this one is simply bugged.

How to Complete the Master Spellcrafter Journey

Many players seem to encounter the exact same issue, so chances are it is indeed a bug. People are speculating that the counter might only work after completing specific categories, or that progress resets when logging out, which would definitely explain why many are stuck at low numbers.

There is a small workaround that seems to have worked for some players:

At this point, there is no official information from Blizzard regarding this Seasonal Journey issue. One thing is sure: players are not imagining things. Many are stuck on this objective despite clearly meeting the requirements.

You can try to complete it in one go by just spamming Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides, which should grant you access to enough Elites with the needed affixes. Another solution is to simple hold off on that one task for the time being, until Blizzard releases a fix or explanation.
