Diablo IV Season 9 Adds Optional Strongrooms – Are They Worth It

Jaym0 Avatar by Jaym0

Season 9 of Diablo IV introduces a new feature inside Nightmare Dungeons: Horadric Strongrooms. Those are short and intense challenge rooms that players can choose to enter (or skip entirely).

They don’t show up in every dungeon, but when they do, you will know! A portal will appear on your map when you get close, that leads to a sort of condensed version of the gauntlet.

Inside, you will activate Horadric Pillars that grant powerful buffs, or curses. Slaying enemies builds your Attunement Score, which boosts your final reward. There is also a final boss, and a Grand Horadric Cache at the end full of seasonal loot: the Tomes needed for the new Jewels!

Are Horadric Strongrooms Worth Running?

If you are playing Season 9 for Horadric Spell power or aiming to craft Horadric Jewels, the answer is a strong yes.

Strongrooms are one of the best sources of Horadric Phials and Tomes: the crafting ingredients needed to upgrade your seasonal build. And thanks to the Attunement system, you can even scale your rewards fast by using the room mechanics.

They are not mandatory, and they do carry some risk. But if you are comfortable in Nightmare Dungeons and want faster progression with the seasonal content, they are absolutely worth it.

However, chances are that, once we obtained all the Tomes for the Jewels, we will not really need the Strongrooms anymore, as they did not seem to provide anything special during PTR.
