Mythic Uniques Retain Their Affixes When Upgraded and New Horadric Cube Recipes – Diablo 4 Season 15 Crafting Updates

Miril Avatar by Miril

Season 15 is introducing many crafting changes and quality-of-life updates for Diablo 4, including:

  • Upgrading Unique items to Mythic will now be a 1:1 transfer, with the item retaining its affixes and Unique effects.
    • Mythics crafted this way will have the Crafted tag, and only one can be equipped.
    • Mythics crafted via the Blacksmith or Jeweler will not have the Crafted tag.
  • Two new Horadric Cube recipes:
    • Affix Value Reroll on equipment, charms, and seals, while protecting traits like Greater Affixes.
    • Horadric Reroll on charms and seals, which fully randomizes affixes without touching Set bonuses or Unique powers.
  • Forgotten Soul crafting costs have been reduced for Royal Gems, Grand Gems, and Ancestral Items
  • Sigil Powder crafting costs have been reduced for Magic Tributes and Infernal Horde Compasses

Crafting Updates

Customize with Mythic Unique Crafting Updates

While the methods to create Mythic Uniques remain the same, the outcomes are far more deterministic.

Mythic Uniques can be created three ways:

  • Horadric Cube: Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic
  • Jeweler: Rune Crafting > Mythic Uniques
  • Blacksmith: Forge > Mythic Cache

Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic in the Horadric Cube will be more expensive than the recipes through the Blacksmith or Jeweler, but it will also be a total 1:1 transfer. As the name implies, this is a direct transfer to a Mythic state: the random factors are gone. Put in a Tibault’s Will with ideal affixes and dialed-in Tempering and Masterworking, and you’ll get a Mythic-ized version of that Tibault’s Will with all affixes and modifications retained.

The only restriction is that you cannot use this recipe on an Unmodifiable item, so beware of Transfiguring your precious Mythic Unique candidate!

Mythic Uniques created using the powerful Horadric Cube Upgrade Direct recipe will have a Crafted tag. You will be able to equip only one Crafted tag item, but only Mythic Uniques crafted using this recipe will have this tag.

Mythic Uniques created using the Jeweler’s Rune Crafting or the Blacksmith’s Mythic Unique cache will not have a Crafted tag. Even with having one Crafted tag for Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic, this leaves many options to equip multiple Mythics from both crafted and dropped sources.

Developer’s Note: During the 3.2.0 PTR, we introduced Unique versions of Iconic Mythic items. We intended this to be a way for players to have earlier access to Iconic Mythic properties that were central to certain builds. However, player feedback was clear: this cheapened the value of Iconic Mythics and diluted their identity as a top chase item. Therefore, Iconic Mythics will remain Mythic-quality only. Also in the PTR, we changed the Blacksmith’s Mythic Unique cache to give a chance at both class-appropriate Mythic Uniques and Iconic Mythics. Players objected to removing the only streamlined way to craft only Iconic Mythics. Therefore, we have added a second Blacksmith Cache option that only rolls for Iconic Mythics, at the same cost as the Mythic Uniques cache.

Hone Your Gear with New Horadric Cube Crafting Recipes

Two new recipes are coming to the Horadric Cube in Season 15,giving you more control over unwanted affixes while protecting the traits you want to keep.

Affix Value Reroll allows you to reroll all base affixes on both equipment and Talisman items (Charms and Seals) — while protecting desirable traits like Greater Affixes, any Enchanted affixes, Tempers, and Transfigurations (as long as that Transfigured item is not Unmodifiable).

Horadric Reroll is a second option for rerolling Charms and Seals, with a few differences. Available for Legendary+ Charms and Seals, Horadric Reroll fully randomizes all base Affixes on Charms and Seals, without touching Set Bonuses or Unique/Mythic charm powers. Unlike Affix Value Reroll, Horadric Reroll will not change the Charm Set Bonus Affixes on Seals – just base Affix.

Horadric Cube

  • Clarified the behavior and description of Tuning Prisms when used with Chaotic Rerolls.
  • Horadric Cube material drop rates adjusted.
  • Reduced the overall drop weighting of Pure Primordial Dust due to increased baseline Legendary Item drop rates.
  • Coarse Primordial Dust becomes less common as difficulty increases.
  • Refined, Volatile, Pure, Enhanced, and Attuned Primordial Dust become more common as difficulty increases.

Horadric Cube Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Unique Charms and Unique Items could not have their powers rerolled through the Horadric Cube.
  • Fixed an issue where Mythic Amulets could receive a non-maximum Unique Affix value when first Transfigured.

Tempering

  • Fixed an issue where Maximum Resolve Stacks was uncapped when Tempering.

Jeweler

  • Reduced the Forgotten Soul cost to craft Royal Gems from 30 to 10.
  • Reduced the Forgotten Soul cost to craft Grand Gems from 300 to 50.

Occultist

  • Reduced the Forgotten Soul cost to enchant Ancestral Items from 25 to 10.
  • Reduced the cost to craft a random Magic Tribute from 200 to 100 Sigil Powder.
  • Reduced the cost to craft an Infernal Horde Compass from 666 to 500 Sigil Powder.
  • Adjusted Sigil Powder Salvage returns:
    • Nightmare Dungeon Sigil: 25 to 20
    • Escalation Sigil: 25 to 100
    • Infernal Horde Compass: 25 to 100
