With the Lord of Hatred expansion getting closer, things are about to change pretty hard in Diablo 4. At this point, we all know that skill trees are getting a big overhaul, and that alone could completely change how a lot of current builds work.
This is for the best, of course! What we already saw is really promising, but we do not know exactly what will survive or not yet. But it is pretty clear that if there is a build you have been meaning to try, now is probably the time, because if anything, it might not work the same afterwards.
So naturally, players have started sharing their “do not miss this” builds before the expansion releases, and a few names keep coming up.
Builds Players Keep Recommending Right Now
Some of these are not just strong, but they are fun in a way that might not exist in the same form later. Not all of those builds are necessarily “meta”, but all of them will definitely make the game a lot more fun to play. And since there is not much to do right now before the expansion hits, well, what else are you going to do?
- Crackling Energy Sorcerer
- This one comes up a lot. It is fast, flashy, and just deletes everything in a storm of lightning. Not the most complex build out there, but it feels great to play.
- Evade Spiritborn
- A bit more niche, but people love it for how mobile it is. You are constantly dashing around, dealing damage while staying hard to kill. Definitely still one of the more unique playstyles.
- Raven Storm Druid
- Not the most meta anymore, but still one of those builds people remember because it is just fun to play.
- Frost Hydra (“Ice Queen”) Sorc
- Less common, but still getting mentions. It leans more into a themed playstyle, and those are often the ones that do not always survive big system changes, but definitely worth trying at least once in a lifetime!
- Barbarian spins and earthquakes (Whirlwind, HOTA, Earthquake)
- Still some of the most fun builds in the game. If you have not tried them yet, they are kind of a “you should at least experience this once” situation.
- Paladin builds (Hammerdin, Auradin, etc.)
- This is for those who already pre-ordered the expansion. Auradin is super laid-back (sometimes a bit too much). You really just run around, do nothing, and wait for things to die. Hammerdin is more active and engaging, but just as fun. It depends on what you are looking for. Definitely recommend playing Paladin now, so you fully concentrate on Warlock with the expansion, because that one is going to be a different kind of fun!
Why Is It Important to Try Things Out Now?
The upcoming changes are not just small balance adjustments anymore. From what has been shared so far, Lord of Hatred is reworking entire skill trees, and this might change how builds are put together, especially with new skills and fewer passive bonuses.
That means a lot of current builds that rely on stacking effects, specific interactions, or certain item synergies could end up playing very differently, or just not exist in the same way anymore.
Of course, those changes do not mean that old builds are getting deleted. But, they will most likely not work the exact same way anymore, so if you want to try some things out before they change, it is now or never.
At the end of the day, this is one of those “play it while it lasts” moments. Even if some builds come back in a new form later, it will not be quite the same as what we have right now. So if something has been sitting on your “I’ll try it later” list… maybe do not wait too long.
