The “Loosened Locks” hairstyle was released in Patch 7.56 just a couple of days ago, but it’s already a hit with players. Some of them are even reporting that they’ve received the popular new FFXIV hairstyle as a drop! So if you haven’t unlocked the Beastmaster job and really want the hairstyle, now might be the time to become the Ash Ketchum of Eorzea.
How Can I Acquire the New FFXIV Hairstyle?
Originally, the Loosened Locks hairstyle was a winner in the 2023 Hairstyle Design Contest. Now, nearly three years later, it’s available in-game. We currently know of only two primary ways to obtain it, and both require playing through the Crucible of the Unbroken as a Beastmaster.
The first and most direct way is to purchase the hairstyle for 500 Faded Remnants of Resilience. After you have enough currency, visit the Kornago merchant in the Central Shroud at X:21.9, Y:22.6 to buy it. Grinding for 500 Faded Remnants of Resilience in the Crucible of the Unbroken can take a while, though.
However, u/MiniMumbo on Reddit and @Mrhappy1227 on Twitter got theirs as a drop after the First Board of the Unbroken in the Crucible. We can’t tell you what the drop rate is, but if nothing else, you might earn enough Faded Remnants of Resilience to simply buy it outright from the Kornago merchant if you grind long enough.
On an additional note, some Reddit commenters say that they’ve gotten the hairstyle as a drop during an Apex run in the Crucible. So it would appear that you don’t need to be Legendary, but take this with a grain of salt.
How Do I Access the Crucible of the Unbroken?
First, you have to be at least Level 30 on Beastmaster to access this solo duty. After you’ve reached this status, speak with J’yhuh Tia in the Central Shroud at X:22.9, Y:19.1. This will trigger the “Into the Crucible” job quest. After completion, you’ll gain access to the First Board of the Unbroken, as well as Beast Tamer’s Tabar, Beast Tamer’s Hoplon, and Beast Tamer’s Coffer (IL 30).
If all else fails, you can consider paying a hefty sum of gil on the market board instead. Once you’ve acquired the hairstyle, you’ll be sporting a stylish new look and be the envy of your friends. We wish you luck! 💇♀️
