Remielle Dan wasn’t the only thing that caught players’ attention during the Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Version 3.1 Special Program.
Alongside the new characters, HoYoverse also revealed two brand-new Disk Drives arriving in Version 3.1. While one is clearly designed with Remielle in mind, the second set has immediately sparked speculation that Claret Flint could be arriving sooner than expected, and that she may be a DEF-scaling Agent. It may be speculation, but the case for it does make some sense.
The Thorned Rose Disk Drive Looks Suspiciously Familiar
The new Disk Drive, Thorned Rose, grants 16% DEF as its two-piece bonus. Its four-piece effect then increases the wearer’s damage by 15%, while granting an additional 8% or 16% CRIT Rate once the character reaches specific DEF thresholds. That is an unusual stat combination for ZZZ, where most offensive sets focus on ATK, CRIT, or Anomaly stats instead.
But what is really notable, and what caught the community’s attention, is the set’s visual design. Thorned Rose shares an almost identical black-and-red color palette with Claret. It is striking, so much so that many players believe it is tailor-made for her. While HoYoverse hasn’t confirmed any connection between the two, the resemblance is difficult to ignore.
If Thorned Rose really is Claret’s signature Disk Drive, it would also strongly suggest she’s a DEF-scaling Agent of some type. While her role is unknown, the suggestion of increased CRIT Rate based on DEF does imply she is a damage dealer, something ZZZ has only explored in limited ways so far. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed. Disk Drives aren’t always exclusive to a single character, and it’s entirely possible the set is designed for multiple future Agents.
Even so, HoYoverse has a history of introducing gear sets shortly before the characters they’re designed for arrive. This also implies Claret could arrive as soon as Version 3.2, as Thorned Rose’s heavy DEF focus and its striking resemblance to her visual design could mean that we may have already gotten our first real hint about what the next Agent after Sigrid is bringing to the table.
