HoYoverse has officially unveiled everything coming in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1, and the game’s second anniversary is shaping up to be one of its biggest celebrations yet. During the Version 3.1 Special Program, HoYoverse revealed the long-awaited Void Hunter Remielle Dan, introduced Sigrid, and along with many other juicy content. If there was one takeaway from the presentation, it’s that Version 3.1 is a genuine celebration of everything ZZZ has built over the past two years, while also setting the stage for what comes next.
Players can also redeem the livestream code ZZZY2ANNIV for free rewards before it expires.
Version 3.1 Is Bringing One of ZZZ’s Biggest Anniversary Celebrations Yet
HoYoverse is handing out one of the largest batches of anniversary rewards the game has seen.
Version 3.1 will reward players with 30 free pulls through anniversary login events, while every player will also be able to choose one free S-Rank Agent alongside their signature S-Rank W-Engine. The available choices include Jane Doe, Soldier 0 – Anby, Hugo, Trigger, and Lucia, giving both veterans and newer players some incredible value. Lucia is a particularly valuable addition, as she is the sole limited support character for Rupture DPS.

The anniversary doesn’t stop there. The Monochrome top-up bonuses will officially reset, previous event-exclusive A-Rank W-Engines are obtainable again, and several improvements will help new players jump into the game more quickly. Inter-Knot progression is getting streamlined, beginner progression is receiving improvements, and older event rewards are becoming much easier to obtain.
HoYoverse is also adding a Custom Search feature, allowing players who lose a 50/50 to customize part of the S-Rank pool. Alongside the standard roster, players will now be able to include Agents such as Yanagi, Caesar, and Zhu Yuan, making future losses considerably more valuable.

Several existing Agents are also receiving balance adjustments, with Jane Doe, Rina, and Nekomata all confirmed to receive buffs during Version 3.1.
Remielle Dan Finally Arrives Alongside Sigrid
The biggest reveal of the livestream was, unsurprisingly, Remielle Dan. As ZZZ’s newest Void Hunter, Remielle introduces an entirely new playstyle centered around the unique Lumiflux element. Rather than functioning as a traditional on-field carry, she’s appears to be an off-field Anomaly specialist who automatically adapts to match the element of one of her teammates, similarly to Yuzuha.

She continuously attacks while off the field, strengthening Anomaly damage before unleashing devastating Voidflare attacks once enough stacks have been built. One interesting surprise is that Remielle won’t follow the usual banner schedule. Instead of being limited to Phase 1, she’ll remain available throughout the entire Version 3.1 update, giving players the full patch to decide whether they want to add the newest Void Hunter to their roster.
Joining her is Sigrid, the patch’s new Ice Attack Agent arriving during Phase 2. Unlike Remielle, Sigrid is built around staying on the field, rapidly chaining together Basic Attacks, EX Skills, and powerful follow-up attacks while carefully managing her unique resource mechanic.

During the livestream, HoYoverse showcased her ability to unleash multiple enhanced attacks back-to-back whenever enemies become stunned, suggesting she’ll heavily reward players capable of optimizing her attack flow.
The banner schedule also includes the return of Aria during the first phase, while Dialyn, Yuzuha, and Harumasa will all receive special anniversary banners that remove the traditional 50/50 mechanic for the first pity, giving players another opportunity to pick up some of the game’s most popular limited Agents.
Version 3.1 Continues Phaethon’s Story
The Version 3.1 story trailer spent much of its time focusing on Remielle, while also diving deeper into the mysterious Enchainer, an entity that appears to play a major role in the next chapter of ZZZ’s story. Players also got their first look at several brand-new characters.
Truvia was introduced as one of Phaethon’s former classmates from Helios Academy, while Lindverne Sunbringer (dubbed “Teen” Sunbringer by the community) alongside the first in-game look at the brand-new character, Claret. Outside of the story itself, Eous is also gaining a brand-new rolling form that will be used to solve environmental puzzles throughout the update’s exploration segments.

Version 3.1 looks to continue expanding both the world and the larger mysteries surrounding Helios Academy, while placing Remielle firmly at the center of the game’s next major story arc.
Operation Bagel Could Be Version 3.1’s Biggest Gameplay Addition
While Remielle and the anniversary rewards stole plenty of the spotlight, Version 3.1 is also introducing what could become one of ZZZ’s biggest permanent additions yet.
The new Enigma of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel is a brand-new extraction-style mode that takes players deep into the Papago Hollow. Rather than simply clearing enemies and moving on, players will venture into the Hollow searching for increasingly valuable loot before deciding when it’s time to extract.

The deeper players explore, the more dangerous each run becomes. Ether Levels rise as loot is collected, eventually attracting a relentless Hound that forces players to either escape or risk losing everything. If the entire squad is defeated before extracting, all of the loot collected during that run is lost.
Unlike limited-time events, Operation Bagel is arriving as a permanent game mode, with HoYoverse confirming that it will receive seasonal updates moving forward. During the livestream, the developers even described it as the successor to ZZZ’s original TV Mode, now rebuilt into a fully explorable 3D Hollow experience.
Summer Events Bring New Activities, Swimsuits, and More
Version 3.1 is packed with limited-time events throughout the anniversary celebration, headlined by Summer Waves Roll In, which takes players to the Seaside Resort.
One of its main activities, Beachcombing, lets players explore the beach using Remielle, Lucy, and Sigrid, each equipped with their own unique exploration abilities to gather resources scattered throughout the area.

Those materials can then be used in Treasure Trading, another connected activity that introduces a semi-roguelike progression system as players continue upgrading and expanding their seaside adventure.
Outside of the summer festivities, HoYoverse also revealed a healthy lineup of additional events arriving throughout Version 3.1. Photography fans can look forward to Birdwatching, while Dangerous Fugitives: Leisurely Vacation combines photo-taking with tracking down escaped criminals alongside Remielle.
Ding-Dong Delivery Training in Progress puts players in charge of helping Bangboo deliver letters throughout New Eridu. Meanwhile Phaethon’s Grand Reveal of the Year serves as the game’s official second anniversary celebration event, giving players a chance to look back on everything that’s happened throughout their time in ZZZ’s first two years.
Deadly Assault Is Getting Even Harder
For players already comfortable clearing ZZZ’s toughest content, Version 3.1 introduces a brand-new Adversity Mode for Deadly Assault.

Rather than offering additional Polychrome, the mode is designed as a high-end challenge for experienced players, rewarding exclusive avatars and other cosmetic collectibles instead. It’s another way for HoYoverse to expand endgame content without placing additional premium currency behind even more difficult content.
New Outfits and One Final Surprise
The anniversary update also brings a large collection of new cosmetics. Summer outfits are arriving for Lucy, Vivian, Remielle, and Sigrid, while Remielle will also receive her black outfit inspired by the version of the character shown during her original reveal. Players interested in both of Remielle’s outfits will also be able to purchase them together as a discounted bundle. Vivian’s outfit was previously available only during a spending event, but is now accessibility to any players interested.

HoYoverse also confirmed a new spending event, allowing players to earn additional rewards, including select Agents (Astra Yao, Seed, and Vivian) and their W-Engines, throughout the anniversary period.
Finally, the livestream closed with one last surprise. A Zenless Zone Zero x Honkai: Star Rail collaboration is officially on the way. No details were given for the event as of yet, but there likely won’t be a long wait before more is revealed.
