Dear Travelers of Genshin Impact, how are you all enjoying the holiday resort so far? There are plenty of treasures, Pyroculus, and events to enjoy, but watch out! Starting in Version 6.0, “Song of the Welkin Moon,” you may need to upgrade your device to continue playing! Let’s learn more together below.
When is Genshin Impact Version 6.0 Releasing?
Currently, we expect Genshin Impact Version 6.0 to release in early September. The maintenance should begin by Tuesday, September 9th at 06:00 (UTC+8). There is also a possibility it will release later within the same week. This information is subject to change in the future, so keep that in mind!

What Platforms Can Still Play Genshin in 6.0?
Notably, you can continue to play Genshin Impact on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox devices. However, there are some special conditions, according to the official HoYoLAB article.
Starting in Version 6.0, both the minimum and recommended system specifications will increase. So even though most devices can still launch the game, there may be significant performance issues if you are below the minimum requirements! Be sure to review any devices you use to see if you can still play Genshin Impact!
As of this time, the storage space requirements haven’t been announced yet. We’ll update this article when we learn more!

If you currently play on the PlayStation, you should switch to a PlayStation®5 (PS5) as soon as possible! Starting in Version 6.0, Genshin Impact will discontinue support for PS4. This is a gradual process, beginning with the game’s removal from the store in September, and finalizing all changes by April 8th, 2026.
For more information on the PS4’s end of support, see our summary over on Icy Veins! If you’re already on the PS5, you can continue playing without any interruptions. However, if you aren’t able to upgrade to a PS5 anytime soon, maybe consider a different platform!

The PS4 has cross-save functionality, so you can continue using the same miHoYo account on mobile or PC devices! Thanks to Genshin Cloud, you also don’t have to worry about adding storage space either!
If you play Genshin Impact on the Xbox console instead, you’ll need to have an Xbox Series X|S.
That’s all for the planned upgrades so far, Travelers! As the storage space requirements aren’t released yet, if you’re unable to free up extra storage, why not consider playing via Genshin Cloud? This is a free service on mobile and PC devices, which has the same game progression, so give it a try!
