During the Neverness to Everness Version 1.1 livestream, the developers officially revealed Sunward Island, the game’s next main exploration zone. So far, the story has mostly focused on Hethereau’s main continent and the mysteries surrounding the Scarlet Letter organization. But according to the new preview, things are about to escalate quickly.
The developers teased a resurfacing member of the Scarlet Letter, new information about “The Betrayer”, and hidden secrets connected to the island.
And apparently, nothing is exactly what it seems.
Sunward Island Brings a Completely Different Atmosphere
Unlike the usual city-life setting we have explored so far, Sunward Island is your typical beautiful tropical coastal island with an amazing summer holiday atmosphere.
The island appears to be accessible mainly by boat and features:
- Beautiful beaches
- Coastal towns
- Dense forests
- Mountains and cliffs
- A large harbor area
- Massive sunflower fields
- A distant lighthouse visible across the island
The showcase also revealed a mysterious wrecked-ship area that already looks like it could hide a lot of story secrets, anomaly encounters, or a ton of other mysteries.
Visually, the region feels far more relaxed and vacation-themed compared to the city environments we are used to. It is definitely perfect to kick start the summer holidays! Exploring a nice island in-game, before going on your summer vacation right after!
A Luxury Resort Also Appears on the Island
One of the more interesting parts of the reveal was a large resort or hotel-like location that the devs showed. It has luxurious interiors, tropical architecture, and looks like the type of Hotel you book for a very fancy vacation. It really almost feels inspired by real-world island resorts.
For now, the developers have not explained if you will be able to purchase property there or if the location is linked to the main story content. It could also act as a new social hub or simply connect to future events.
Many players are already speculating that Sunward Island could eventually become home to another ultra-expensive luxury residence similar to Fenglin Villa. But since we do get the Porsche-related apartment already, it is safe to say that there will most likely be none on Sunward Island for now.
New Anomalies and the Corridor of Echoes
Of course, a new region also means new anomalies. The developers officially revealed a new Location Anomaly called the Corridor of Echoes. From the brief video shown during the livestream, the area looks extremely cool, and the fight itself will most likely be really nice as well:
- Purple-colored environment
- Wrecked ships scattered across the area
- Giant mysterious statues
- Foggy ocean atmosphere
The whole place almost resembles the hidden lair of a mythical sea creature, like a Mermaid, dragging ships into the depths.
The Appraiser Also Gets a Summer Makeover
People also noticed that the Appraiser appears to wear a new summer-themed outfit during some parts of the showcase.
The developers did not officially explain how the outfit is obtained, but it clearly matches the island’s tropical setting and may be linked to Version 1.1 events or story progression, or just another skin you can buy for unreasonable amounts of Fons.
