Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Won’t Carry Over Black Ops 6 Content

After the dust of this year’s Gamescom settles, Call of Duty has finally shown off tons of trailers, gameplay, and heat continues to build between them and Battlefield 6. In a recent community update, fans were surprised to learn that Black Ops 6 content will not be carried forward into Black Ops 7.

Has Call of Duty Finally Listened?

While the community update provides details about player feedback, including multiplayer, zombies, and combating cheaters, one major aspect stood out. COD is taking player feedback and outcry about the game losing its sense of identity, and thus not allowing past content to carry over into Black Ops 7.

The developers have put out a statement saying:

“We know there’s been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty. Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral, and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you.”

They have also gone on to say:

“Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7. Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward, because we recognize your time and progression are important.

This change applies only to Black Ops 7. Call of Duty: Warzone is not affected, and all your Black Ops 6 content stays usable there.”

Has Battlefield Had Some Effect on Black Ops 7?

With the recent Battlefield 6 beta, players have been praising the game’s return to a more grounded and realistic setting. This has sparked numerous heated discussions between the two communities over the past few weeks. It even went as far as higher-ups at Dice saying, “I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded.” Which is a jab at how weird COD’s crossovers and skins have gotten.

Even the recent Black Ops 7 trailer wasn’t safe, as all of the top comments are fans saying that the trailer made them pre-order BF6 instead. So, the question is, has this recent topic finally led COD to return to its old ways?

But what do you think? Will COD keep to their word about wanting their game to stay more grounded? Or is their promise not enough, and likely won’t last? Be sure to let us know and keep an eye on our latest news for future updates.
