Marvel Rivals has finally dropped the trailer for everyone’s favorite X-Man, Cyclops. Scott Summers will launch alongside Season 8.5 of Marvel Rivals on June 12th, as the game’s newest Duelist.
Cyclops Blasts into Marvel Rivals
That’s right after his initial reveal at the start of Season 8; Cyclops is finally making his way into the Marvel Rivals DPS roster. Surprisingly, he is packing a slightly different kit than most expected. Scott’s lasers aren’t just deadly, but they can bounce off of walls and nearby enemies as well. On top of that, his standard blast appears to be hitscan. Cyclops is already emerging as an upgrade to Moon Knight in several ways.
Funnily enough, ever since his announcement and even before, players were already making jokes about Cyclops needing to reload his eyes for whatever reason. Apparently, the community’s jokes were right, and Scott does, in fact, need to blink to reload.
To Me, My X-Men

Another interesting note about Cyclops’ kit is that he is very mobile. He has the ability not only to quickly ascend into the air but also to dash backward with his kinetic blasts. Plus, he can alternate between a single target or multi-target blast, whereas the multi-beam naturally recharges, but you only have to reload for the single blast.
Ultimately, while this is a very faithful recreation of what Cyclops can do, is this creating a problem where past heroes will eventually become overshadowed by someone with a similar or better kit? Hela was initially the best hitscan character at release. Eventually, this moved to Phoenix for a while, and now both characters constantly fight to be on top. With the addition of another character who can hit the entire team with multiple abilities, will Moon Knight ever find a spot in the meta unless Cyclops is banned?
