One week after the launch of World of Warcraft’s Forever beta, blizzard released patch notes with several class and race changes, including a massive nerf to Gnome’s new racial, Eureka!
WoW Forever Beta Development Notes – Updated September 24
Races
- Gnome
- Changed Eureka on every class to a 10% discount on Mana, Rage, or Energy abilities.
The previous iteration had varying discounts depending on player class. This change is a nerf to all of them while also tuning the racial evenly across the board.
Here’s how it impacts all classes:

Polarizing Racial
When the community found out about the new gnome racial, players speculated it would be too good to pass up on. Lots of community discussion talked about the strength of the racial in PvP, especially pairing it with Escape Artist (and Gnome Priest getting access to another new racial, Contingency Plan). Even in PvE, saving resources and doing increased damage is beneficial.
In our video on best race and class combos, Warlocks, Mages, and Priests were our choices to pair with gnomes for its racial.
We will have to see how tuning continues to play out over the beta, before the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever on November 4th.
