As you begin your leveling journey, it’s important to know that there is no modern group finder in Forever. This means no automated matchmaking, no teleports, and no summoning stones either.
Instead, Forever features the Looking for Group tool that was added to Classic Fresh and Season of Discovery, allowing players to list themselves or their group, which can then be browsed through to either invite players to a group or send a message to groups looking for players. This serves as a convenient shortcut to spamming chat, though the tool has several notable limitations.
- Listings will only show the name, class, level, and role of group members.
- Player location is not shared, so the player may be halfway across the world.
- There are no filters to search for specific classes, roles, or anything else to fill out your group.
Because of these limitations, many players will opt to use more traditional chat channels to form their groups, but with no integration between the two, enterprising players will want to use both in order to maximize their chances of finding and filling groups. Unfortunately, chat channels can be extremely hard to navigate, so there are a few addons which may help.
LFG Forever improves the built-in Looking for Group tool with filters for role, class, playstyle, level, and language, highlights friends and guild members, shares player locations, and captures whispers for easier management.
LFG Group Bulletin Board was designed for Classic and hasn’t been formally updated for Forever yet, but scans chat channels instead, using key words to filter which players are looking for what dungeon, which can be filtered for specific dungeons or even raids. While it does occasionally result in false positives, it is a very convenient way of navigating fast-moving chat channels.
Whether you make use of these or other community tools to help find groups though, it’s important to remember that modern conveniences like instant teleports and summoning stones are not featured in Forever, so make sure to think about how long it will take to get to the dungeon before joining a group halfway across the world!
