So, we knew the WoW: Forever Beta was popular (hello queue times, my old friend), but now we have some actual proof of just how popular the game has been so far.
One of the easiest ways to quantify interest in World of Warcraft is through Twitch viewership, since Blizzard doesn’t publish active player numbers. Of course, Twitch Drops can inflate viewership, and plenty of players will never watch WoW on Twitch at all. However, this still gives us some quantifiable indication of how much attention the Beta is generating.
And it’s a lot.
According to TwitchTracker.com, the Beta’s peak viewership sits around 800,000 viewers. Whilst this is still under the major peak seen from WoW Classic of over 1 million viewers, this is still huge considering this is just the WoW: Forever Beta!
WoW Classic developer, Josh Greenfield, also known as Aggrend, said the Forever Beta was pulling “some of the craziest numbers I’ve seen in 17 years working at Blizzard and almost 8 years on classic.”
Aside from numbers, people across social media and the WoW community have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the WoW: Forever Beta so far. And if these numbers are anything to go by, it looks like Blizzard may have a very busy November launch on their hands.
