The eighteenth week of Mythic+ in this season is behind us, and once again Nightstalker314 is digging into the numbers via Raider.IO.
This was the final week before players could max out their D.I.S.C. belt, but it also marked the launch of the Collector’s Bounty event, and WoW players love cosmetics more than their weekly keys! Run counts plummeted, down 28.27% from the week prior. Only the top key levels held steady. Let’s dig into the numbers
Weekly Total Run Performance Compared to Other Seasons
A nearly 30% drop makes this the biggest weekly dip of the season. Only Pandaria Remix’s launch during DF S4 saw worse. The pattern’s obvious: cosmetics > gear grind, especially near the end of a season or expansion. Early numbers for week 19 show a slight rebound. And the final upgrade to the belt could also stabilize activity within M+ in the last weeks of the season.

Unlike in Dragonflight, TWW S2 will end after 22 weeks. Last expansion the second season was dragged out to 27 weeks. Probably to launch 10.2 and Season 3 right around Blizzcon. This time Season 2 is a bit shorter so 11.2 can launch prior to Gamescom. That way story conclusions also don’t create a messy overlap with the reveal of the next chapter of the World Soul Saga.
Total Runs Across All Dungeons
The dungeon split is remaining tight for the entire season. Only one dungeon flipped within the order. The MOTHERLODE went up from 5th to 3rd place. But the change always happens within 1% of the total runs for these dungeons. The average in time percentage went up to 85.84%. A small gain over the previous week, most likely affected by the affix change. The decrease in total runs is also reflected by a drop of 23.2% for active characters. This drop-off is not as big. It seems that characters which are still active in M+ just finish less dungeons.

The change for in time percentage is rather small this week. Darkflame Cleft (92.17%) is gaining a bit while staying comfortably ahead of the rest. Priory (86.31%) and The MOTHERLODE (86.27%) have traded places. Cinderbrew Meadery did rather well with 85.17%. Earlier in the season this was a rough dungeon. Operation Floodgate is close behind with 84.89%. Meanwhile The Rookery (84.61%) once again shows problems with the Pulsar affix. A mechanic that can’t be played that well during its boss fights. Theater of Pain (84.14%) and Mechagon (83.24%) are once again trailing behind.
Split Across All Key Levels
After the Dungeon week the focus has once again shifted towards the higher key levels. 67.46% were finished above key level 9. Total runs below level 6 dropped by more than 30%. Between level 7 and 13 the impact was smaller. Here players are still grinding Gilded Crests and rating for their Keystone Legend mount. Keys from 14 to 18 saw a major drop-off in interest. Level 19 to 21 saw a rather stable activity from week to week while we only saw a single +22. A lot of high-end players are now on the PTR testing next season’s dungeons.

The keys from level 4 to 11 saw a major improvement for in time percentage. A gain between 1 and 2.82 points clearly shows how any other affix is less punishing than Ascendant last week. Above 11 the success rate dropped a bit. Combined with the lower run numbers we can assume that the more ambitious players were less active this week.
Conclusion and Early Numbers for Week 19
Most players are eagerly awaiting the start of the next season. Some will probably attempt a few more rating gains with the fully upgraded belt. But for now, legacy content is running the show. It’ll be interesting to see if within the next few weeks the total numbers will rebound or at least stabilize with everyone checking mount farms off their lists.
As of this writing hourly numbers for week 19 are about 1% ahead compared to week 18. This might change towards the end of the week. There are still a lot of mounts to farm!
