Patch 12.0.7 is available for testing on the PTR, and a praised feature from Legion Remix is returning on a limited capacity – Heroic World Tier is available for the two zones being revisited in the patch!
What is Heroic World Tier?
The concept of a Heroic World Tier was first brought up during the Legion Remix event. Back then, it was an optional phase that players could participate in.
In Heroic World Tier, mobs had significantly more damage and health, as well as affixes that made them even stronger. In exchange for dealing with the increased difficulty, you earned additional rewards.
We have previously speculated about Heroic World Tier being the future of outdoor content in WoW, so it is cool to see this prediction becoming true (at least partially for now)!
Heroic World Tier Coming to Showdowns in Patch 12.0.7
Heroic World Tier is returning in a limited capacity in Patch 12.0.7, with the achievement Heroic Tendencies. This achievement unlocks the mode for Showdowns, or activities in the two areas we will be revisiting in the patch – Naigtal and Val. People who played Legion will recognize these names, as they were two Minor Assault areas in Argus.
So far on the PTR, there are a few additional achievements connected to Heroic World Tier in Showdowns:
- Heroic Showdowns: Currently has no criteria, but will likely be a meta achievement requiring the achievements below.
- Heroic: Worlds Ahead: Complete 15 World Quests in Val or Naigtal on Heroic World Tier.
- Heroic: Power Creep: Defeat 10 creatures with affixes in Val or Naigtal on Heroic World Tier.
- Heroic Climate Strange: Val: Dissipate 5 storms in Val on Heroic World Tier.
- Heroic Climate Strange: Naigtal: Dissipate 5 storms in Naigtal on Heroic World Tier.
- Heroic: Pain of Command: Defeat Imperator Pertinax and Nexus-Captain Leth’ir in Heroic World Tier.
The Heroic Showdowns achievement does not have a reward currently added to it, but one of the mounts in Patch 12.0.7, the Tortured Gorger, is displayed as a reward for it in the mount journal.
We are still only on the very first 12.0.7 PTR build, so we should expect to see more rewards in the future!
What About a Mythic World Tier??
According to MrGM, a Mythic world tier string can be found in the Patch 12.0.7 data. However, there is nothing to confirm it at the moment ingame.
