We’ve skipped a week and are now back with some dungeon numbers! And while we do have the results of the last class tuning pass, a new one is going live right now on NA servers. It only has 6 PvE changes, however, with significant nerfs to Unholy as well as buffs for Devourer, Brewmaster, Mistweaver, Subtlety, and Enhancement. As you’d expect, it’s been very much Unholy’s week, but that’s all about to change, so let’s see what’s up.
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO‘s excellent analytics tools, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
The biggest change of the week is the precipitous drop of Blood DK, losing three spots, but still retaining the No.1 tank position down in 6th. At the top we see Arcane drop a whole percent, while the rest of the top 3 remain exactly the same, and Demonology and Holy Pala drop 0.2% each. Elemental got the better of Arms, while we see Restoration Shaman drop two spots, outside the top 10. As you’d expect, the two newcomers to the top 10 are both tanks, as Blood’s lost playerbase seems to have moved to Guardian and Protection Pala. The bottom three remain the same, with Augmentation in last place gaining 0.1%, literally doubling its player count!
Runs by Key Level
We’re up to +23 this week with 13 specs managing to finish the highest key completed in Season 2 so far.

Group Composition Popularity
Note: The below chart shows the percentage of group popularity in relation to the top 30 compositions. This means that, for example, the top group says it’s 30% of the compositions, but that’s just 30% of the top 30. In reality, it’s just 2% of all groups played. You can see the smaller 2% number if you hover over the group line in the chart on the Raider.IO page.
The top group starts losing ground here in week 7, as it’s down 2.2%, to 11.9% of the top 30 groups (and 0.9% of the overall group comp population). A brand new setup arrives at No.2, claiming 5.2%, and sporting an unexpected Assassination Rogue in place of the Arcane Mage. The third comp is pretty close to the 2nd, only 0.6% behind, and it’s the old No.2 with Demonology instead of the top group’s Elemental.
Group Composition Success Rate
We’re taking a look at a new stat this week, with the overall success rate of groups. Everyone is pretty close on the 0-100 scale, and the chart takes all key levels and dungeons into account, so you’ll be seeing some very different compositions than the ones above. The top group sports a 92.6% success rate and only features two specs (Blood and Arcane) from the most popular group above. The second group only drops to a 91.7% success rate, and the dropoff only gets smaller from there as you can see below.
Mythic+ DPS Logs
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing. This means that they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor. It is a much, much smaller factor, however. It grants only a few points for significantly faster completions compared to just any in-time finish. We’re also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity. This means that the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
95th percentile DPS
The logs remain stable in the top 4, but we see the approach of a bugged Unholy, which has already taken over the raid. The bug is fixed in today’s class tuning pass, and Unholy also got a fix for grabbing some of Augmentation’s damage for itself in the logs, so we probably won’t be seeing as much of it from this week on. Devourer and Subtlety are on the rise, pushing Outlaw down to 8th, with the DH getting some additional buffs in today’s tuning. Windwalker finds itself two spots down, just ahead of Frost DK, which is one spot down in No.10.
All Percentiles
Unholy moves even higher up in the generalist bracket, managing to go up all the way into 2nd place! Devourer moves two spots up into 7th, and Windwalker actually goes up one in 9th here. Outlaw drops even more, three spots into 11th. Fire drops down into the bottom 3, which now has both non-Arcane specs joining Destruction at the very bottom.
Very High Key Raw DPS Numbers
Note: We’re also taking a look at the raw damage numbers from Mythicstats. They take the top runs for extremely high keys (+15-23) from WarcraftLogs and list the overall DPS for the dungeon, which includes non-combat time as well. They’re ranked by the average DPS numbers, with the very top of the top shown next to it.
The top keys are very much dominated by the bugged Death Knight, so we’ll have to see how much it falls. Elemental has moved up a spot into 2nd without any noticeable bugs, however, leaving Demonology in the dust! Arcane is having a bad week as it moves over for all three specs mentioned above. Assassination gets past Arms and Devourer moves into the top 10, with Shadow dropping into the bottom 3.
