Mythic+ Week 19: Chinese Data Explosion Shakes Up the Leaderboards

The nineteenth week of Mythic+ in this season is over and once again Nightstalker314 is taking a look at the data provided by Raider.IO.

The Collector’s Bounty event is still going on and players got the final upgrade for the D.I.S.C. belt. Neither had much impact on the total numbers compared to the previous week. It seems people are still quite busy farming old mounts. Vault keys as well as runs between KSM and 3,000 rating saw similar activity. Anything above it is becoming less and less relevant except for the highest 4 key levels.

So it was a rather typical week—if not for Raider.IO gaining access to the Chinese API. Since the night of Tuesday to Wednesday (July 15th/16th), Raider.IO’s data crawlers have gone into overdrive. Until then, the Chinese leaderboard only consisted of manual uploads from registered accounts. Slowly but surely we now get a grasp on how massive Mythic+ is on the Chinese servers. For the usual segments, last week’s data excludes China. It might take weeks before we get a truly accurate picture of their metrics.

Weekly Total Run Performance Compared to Previous Seasons

The drop-off for the four regular server regions is almost unnoticeable. A drop of just -1.22% indicates that interest in M+ has clearly hit the floor for the remaining weeks. The legacy mount farming is still drawing a lot of attention. A similar behavior can be seen for the last few weeks in TWW S1 where changes were within 1 or 2 percentage points.

The lack of rotating affixes that affect all key levels also prevents any surge in activity during the later weeks of the season. Excluding the long-term Chinese data from manual updates until now doesn’t change much for TWW S1 and S2. Usually these accounts would contribute between 1 and 1.2% of the global leaderboard data.

Total Runs Across All Dungeons

The split across dungeons is as stable as usual. The order below the two preferred dungeons has only slightly shifted. The difference in total number of runs for the next five dungeons is within less than 1,000. The average “in-time” percentage of 85.96% barely increased from last week.

Darkflame Cleft (91.35%) hasn’t dropped below 90% for more than 10 weeks. The MOTHERLODE has cemented its place as the 2nd easiest dungeon with 87.34%. Priory did quite well at 86.34%. The Rookery (85.92%) improved compared to the previous wee, when Pulsar was a detriment at every boss fight. Cinderbrew Meadery (85.25%) was just ahead of Operation Floodgate (84.94%). Mechagon (83.47%) and Theater of Pain (83.00%) are once again trailing behind. Weeks with Tyrannical active from key level 7 onward always drag down TOP.

Split Across All Key Levels

65.85% of all keys were done at key level 10 and higher. Slightly lower than previous week due to decreased interest in high-end keys below the 0.1% title range. Key level 2 to 9 saw stable run numbers. For levels 10,11 and 13, the numbers dropped by 1% to 2%. From levels 14 to 18, activity dropped by 11.89% to as much as 26.5%. The wide gap between 3,000 and 3,700 rating clearly needs a bit more incentive. It’s largest stretch across the entire key level range that doesn’t really offer any specific rewards, short or long-term.

Conclusion and Early Numbers for Week 20

All in all, the focus right now is on everything outside of M+. Players are still busy farming mounts in old raids. Spots in front of raid portals feel almost like social hubs during regular hours. Yet there is still time to secure a few seasonal rewards. Whether from Mythic+, Raids, Delves, or Horrific Visions.

As of this writing hourly numbers for week 20 are close to week 19. The focus on updating Chinese data might skew these numbers slightly for now.
