Blizzard took to the forums to clarify some recent unexpected server downtimes. They cited three separate windows where certain realms for Midnight, Classic Era, and Mists of Pandaria went down for extended periods, from 45 minutes to 3.5 hours, including one earlier today in the NA region. This was due to hardware issues at partner facilities.

We’d like to confirm that yes, we’ve recently had a recurring issue with hardware at a partner facility that serves the game for many realms in this region. Specifically, we’ve had some realms for Midnight, Classic Era, and Mists of Pandaria that went offline three times:
- Sunday, August 2 at 3:00 p.m. EDT for 3 hours
- Wednesday, August 5 at 3:30 a.m. EDT for 3.5 hours
- Today, Thursday August 6 at 4:30 p.m. EDT for about 45 minutes
Whenever something like this has happened, we made it a top priority to provide any assistance that we can to our service partner.
