Stop Wiping to Sentinel of Winter in Den of Nalorakk

Sentinel of Winter is the second boss in Den of Nalorakk, and it is where a lot of keys quietly die. The fight isn’t challenging on the surface, but the snowballing mechanics can make it difficult for unprepared groups. The two big factors of the fight are baiting tornados and dealing with adds properly, especially in high keys.

This is the first entry in a new series breaking down Mythic+ bosses that give groups the most trouble during Midnight Season 2.

Bait Tornados

The most important thing in the fight is to properly bait the tornados (Raging Squall iconRaging Squall). You want to stack as a group when the tornados are about to spawn, preferably in a corner of the room. This will cause them to spawn together, making them easy to avoid.

Move away from the drop location after they spawn. You can see it being done properly in the picture below from RaiderIO’s video guide. Note how the previous tornados are also all stacked up, away from the group.

Dealing with Adds

The other challenge of the fight is dealing with the two Fractured Shivercore that spawn during the fight. The strategy here is simple: once they spawn, move the boss on top of one of the adds to cleave it down and hard CC the other add.

That’s right, don’t kill the second add right away; just hard CC it with Hex iconHex, Polymorph iconPolymorph, Freezing Trap iconFreezing Trap, etc for now. Use the Snowdrift iconSnowdrift created by killing the first to avoid being dragged by Frozen Tempest iconFrozen Tempest. Once Frozen Tempest is done, move the boss to the remaining add and cleave it down.

Below you can see it being done in a +20 key by Miyano C, check out the full run here. The first image shows one of the adds being CCd, while the other highlights the group heading to the CCd add after the Frozen Tempest.
