We’re back with some dungeon data, this time of the popularity variety! We have the tank upset continuing, as Guardian moves even further out front at the very top, leaving Ret more and more behind. The top group is doing the same, and then some, as it now accounts for basically one-fifth of all compositions.
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO‘s excellent analytics tools, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
The gap has massively widened on the No.1 spot since last we checked in! Guardians are truly running amok, and the first period in a long time we’ve had a tank in the No.1 spot is going to last quite a while longer. Retribution is still at No.2, but is now a whopping 0.9% away from the top Druid, dropping 0.2% of its playerbase while Guardian gained 0.6%. Beast Mastery and Unholy both stay where they were but gain a fair chunk. Right behind them, we see Mistweaver continuing to surge, taking Resto Shaman down and becoming the most popular healer! Interestingly, both specs gained players, with the Shaman picking up 0.1%, but the Monk got a bit 0.4% bump. We’ve also seen Mistweaver at the top of the dungeon logs as well, and in close 2nd in raids, which you can check out here.
Runs by Key Level
Spec variety significantly decreased in the 24s this week, as we went from over 10 in the highest completed key down to only 5. This is likely due to fewer groups actually trying/finishing the key.
And here are the full numbers, including the amount of runs. If you’re interested in the change in run numbers from week to week, we have a full and very detailed breakdown and analysis of the individual dungeons and completion rates here. The runs themselves are over 20% down, week-to-week.
Group Composition Popularity
The top comp just gets more and more popular. After the gigantic surge of Guardian, Mistweaver, Unholy, Devourer, and Augmentation a couple of weeks ago, it’s only gone from strength to strength. The group gained a whopping 3% to end up at an almost unprecedented 19%. The second most played group (swapping Devourer and Aug for BM and Ret) dropped a little, some 0.3% to 6% overall. At least the dropoff for the next groups isn’t that large, as we see a relatively normal chart from here on out.
Mythic+ DPS Logs
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing. This means that they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor. It is a much, much smaller factor, however. It grants only a few points for significantly faster completions compared to just any in-time finish. We’re also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity. This means that the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
95th percentile DPS
We go down to 7th place to see the first change in the top percentiles. Enhancement is on the rise there, gaining a solid three spots as Demonology drops two. The Shaman pushes Survival down one, and the remaining two Rogues are still gathering right outside the top 10.
All Percentiles
The generalist bracket is a little more solid, as Demonology and Survival manage to hold on to their spots. Enhancement is rising here as well, and while it’s one spot lower, in 8th, it gained an extra spot as well, four up. Shadow moves into the top 10, right behind the Shaman-displaced Fury.
Very High Key Raw DPS Numbers
Note: We’re also taking a look at the raw damage numbers from Mythicstats. They take the top runs for extremely high keys (+16-25) from WarcraftLogs and list the overall DPS for the dungeon, which includes non-combat time as well. They’re ranked by the average DPS numbers, with the very top of the top shown next to it.
We see Demonology drop off here as well, with Arms rising a couple of spots since last we checked. Ret is also down one, with Feral following in its footsteps, while Outlaw gains a spot.
