We’ve been absent from the dungeons for a week, so it’s definitely time to check out what’s been going on. Aside from a new shining star in the popularity ratings, it’s definitely worth mentioning there’s a giant tuning pass arriving this week, which will definitely shake things up.
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO‘s excellent analytics tools, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
Beast Mastery is moving on up, as it eclipses Blood to move into 2nd place! It gained 0.6% of the population over the past two weeks, while Arcane and Blood dropped the same amount. The Mage still has a massive lead, however, a whole 2.4% ahead of the Hunter. Both Retribution and Demonology moved past Holy Paladin, but it’s still the top healer by 1%, ahead of Resto Shaman, which also got passed by its class’s DPS variant, Elemental. Augmentation, Fire and Survival remain at the bottom, still sporting 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3%.
Runs by Key Level
We’ve moved on to 22s as the top key, with a somewhat smaller variety than we saw with 21s two weeks ago, but the non-top-group specs that are in there had a much larger slice of the pie.

Group Composition Popularity
Note: The below chart shows the percentage of group popularity in relation to the top 30 compositions. This means that, for example, the top group says it’s 30% of the compositions, but that’s just 30% of the top 30. In reality, it’s just 2% of all groups played. You can see the smaller 2% number if you hover over the group line in the chart on the Raider.IO page.
The top group gains a solid amount of ground, growing 0.9% and now claiming 14.1% of the top 30 comps (which is 0.9% of all the comps being played). The 2nd group, replacing Elemental with Demonology, dropped a little, but we have a brand new third composition. This time it’s Beast Mastery joining the DPS team, replacing Elemental from the top group.
Mythic+ DPS Logs
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing. This means that they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor. It is a much, much smaller factor, however. It grants only a few points for significantly faster completions compared to just any in-time finish. We’re also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity. This means that the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
95th percentile DPS
Assassination is gaining ground and blasts past Arcane into 3rd. Rogues are doing great in general, as Outlaw is also on the rise, moving one up into 5th. Windwalker also bumps up a little, and both do it off the back of Feral’s significant drop into 7th. Frost DK is the biggest mover, gaining five spots in 8th. Subtlety may have dropped a spot, but it’s still in the top 10, making it all three Rogues in there!
All Percentiles
The top 4 is slower to move here, but we do see one spec doing a lot better than in the top percentiles, and that’s Retribution! The Paladin makes a giant 5-spot move into 5th. Both Devourer and Windwalker drop off quite a bit, while Unholy and Demonology rise.
Very High Key Raw DPS Numbers
Note: We’re also taking a look at the raw damage numbers from Mythicstats. They take the top runs for extremely high keys (+14-22) from WarcraftLogs and list the overall DPS for the dungeon, which includes non-combat time as well. They’re ranked by the average DPS numbers, with the very top of the top shown next to it.
Arcane finally pushed Demonology out of the top spot in the top keys. The next movement we see is down in 7th, where Windwalker pushes past BM. Frost DK makes a giant leap, 8 spots into 10th, bringing both DKs into the top 10.
