According to a report by Windows Central, World of Warcraft is officially coming to Xbox, not through cloud workarounds, but as a full native install, thanks to Microsoft’s next-gen console built on Windows!
A Console That’s Basically a PC
Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox is supposed to be a full-blown Windows PC in console form. The system will run on Windows, giving players the option to install Battle.net, and thus, run World of Warcraft natively! On top of that, you’ll be able to install many future titles on a single device.
It’s Already Happening on the Ally
The ASUS Rog Ally, a handheld Windows device with Xbox-style controls, already lets you install Battle.net and play World of Warcraft.

Ability Pruning in Midnight Is No Coincidence
If you’ve been closely following the Midnight Alpha changes so far, you’ve probably noticed the extensive ability pruning. Many classes now have fewer buttons to press, which is a clear signal that controller support and console-friendly gameplay are at the forefront at Microsoft.
No Xbox Live Required (Most Likely)
According to Windows Central, Microsoft isn’t expected to require Xbox Live Gold for online play. That means you shouldn’t pay anything on top of your regular WoW subscription.
So When Can You Play?
The next Xbox console should be ready by 2027, but take the information with a grain of salt as Microsoft hasn’t confirmed an exact release date.
