Most Tailors Are Farming Cloth the Wrong Way in WoW Midnight

It seems players with the Tailoring profession are struggling a bit ever since the launch of WoW Midnight, especially in terms of Arcanoweave and Sunfire Silk drops. However, most of the time it simply comes down to two things: the wrong spec and the wrong farming spot.

You Probably Need to Fix Your Spec First

According to the community, this is where a lot of players are going wrong. Cloth in Midnight only drops for Tailors, but even then, the higher-tier cloth types do not drop unless you have the right specialization unlocked.

Here is what you need to focus on first:

  • Fabric Specialist, to increase overall cloth drop rates
  • Nimble Needlework, to unlock Arcanoweave and Sunfire Silk drops. Without at least 20 points here, those cloth types simply will not appear

It seems that players often start by maxing out Fabric Specialist and wondering why they see no Arcanoweave, when the issue is that they never unlocked the right tree to begin with.

Where to Farm Cloth in Midnight

General solo overworld farming is not great, and there is a reason for that. Players have noticed that the first few kills usually drop a decent amount of cloth, and then nothing for some time before it picks up again. Blizzard has not confirmed anything officially, but the community largely believes this is an intentional move to slow down botting.

The best options for farming right now:

  • Zul’Aman group farms are the clear winner. On Reddit, one player reported 106 Bright Linen iconBright Linen, 74 high-quality Bright Linen, 25 high-quality Sunfire Silk iconSunfire Silk, and 19 high-quality Arcanoweave iconArcanoweave in just 20 minutes of group farming. Check the custom group finder; there are usually active groups running.
  • Shadowguard Point Delve is a good solo option. You can pull the entire delve in one go at Tier 1, clear it fast, and jump back in. Players report around 25 to 30 cloth per run.
  • Humanoid-heavy areas in Eversong and Zul’Aman work for open-world solo farming, just expect inconsistent results and short bursts rather than steady drops.

Profession Frustration

Even with good and efficient farming, it is still a bit rough. A single Sunfire Silk Backpack iconSunfire Silk Backpack requires 32 Sunfire Silk, as well as additional bolts. In 20 minutes of dedicated group farming, most players are not walking away with enough for a single bag.

Tailoring and Skinning are generally seen as the weaker gathering professions right now compared to Mining and Herbalism, which have faster respawns, higher yields, and more consistent gold per hour. A lot of the rarer crafting materials are also only realistically obtained through the Auction House, which puts Tailors at the mercy of market prices.

If you still want to give it a go, though, group farming in Zul’Aman with the right spec is your best bet for now. It is not perfect, but it is the closest thing to a reliable method players have found so far.
