Tailoring Guide for Dragonflight
This page covers the most important aspects of Tailoring in Dragonflight, including talent builds and suggestions on how to make gold with the profession.
Tailoring in Dragonflight
Like always, Tailoring will be responsible for creating cloth gear, both
for combat, such as Hood of Surging Time, and for other professions, such
as
Master's Wildercloth Alchemist's Robe.

Besides crafting cloth armor, Tailors are able to make bags like the
Azureweave Expedition Pack, and also leg enchants for casters and healers,
such as
Frozen Spellthread.
Dragonflight introduces Crafting Specializations, which you are able to unlock once your profession skill hits 25. These serve as a profession talent tree system fueled by Tailoring Knowledge, obtained from weekly quests, one-time treasures in the Dragon Isles, Draconic Treatises, and first-time crafts.
While you will eventually be able to unlock all talents, doing so will require a long time as the sources of knowledge are very limited, especially once one-time treasures and first-crafts are exhausted.
Best Class for Tailoring in Dragonflight
Tailoring has great passive gold making potential through its boosts to your
ability to loot cloth and Wildercloth Bolts directly from slain enemies.
Thus, it combos well with traditional farmers who can pull and kill high amounts of hyperspawning cloth-rich enemies constantly in a 2x4 group farm format, such as Balance Druids, Guardian Druids or Beast Mastery Hunters!
Crafting UI in Dragonflight
Dragonflight introduces a few new concepts to professions, which we delve deeper into in the specialized guide below:
Crafting Stats for Tailoring in Dragonflight
Dragonflight introduces four new stats specific to crafting professions: Multicraft, Resourcefulness, Inspiration, and Crafting Speed.
We explain what each stat does and how to maximize them in the specialized guide below:
Tailoring can make great use of all four stats, but you might want to focus on specific stats with different Tailoring specializations. We go into detail with Tailoring stats and the gear you can use to boost them in the specialized guide below:
Leveling Tailoring in Dragonflight
The most important source of Tailoring skill is your profession level, which is increased by performing difficult crafts. While leveling is generally straightforward, you should still take into account any special recipes that can help you along the way, as discussed in our specialized guide below:
Best Tailoring Specializations and Talents in Dragonflight

Tailoring Specializations are divided into four disciplines, each with a varying number of sub-specializations within which can be unlocked as you put points into their pre-requisite disciplines, akin to talent trees.
The best specialization for you depends on what your goals are: are you looking
to make gold passively by looting more cloth, mass producing Tailoring base materials
efficiently, creating a specific type of cloth armor or cloak, or do you just want
to make daily Azureweave Bolt and / or
Chronocloth Bolt with your
alts? Each tree has its own unique perks which can help you reach these goals.
Best Tailoring Mastery Talents
Tailoring Mastery is all about reducing the amount of resources you need through Resourcefulness, allowing you to gather more cloth, and empowering other crafts through added Inspiration. While it is mostly a support tree, you might want to path here first and foremost for Cloth Collection and its high cloth gathering bonuses while leveling.
Best Textiles Talents
The Textiles tree is
responsible for improving the efficiency of tailoring intermediate material
production, including cloth unraveling for Spool of Wilderthread and
Wildercloth Bolt crafting. It also contains some talents that help you
craft better bags, toys and other miscellaneous items such as
Market Tent.
Best Draconic Needlework Talents
Draconic Needlework
talents unlock and empower Azureweave Bolt and
Chronocloth Bolt
daily crafts. They also improve and teach you some of the pattern that use these
rare cloths as materials.
Best Garmentcrafting Talents
Garmentcrafting focuses on teaching recipes for all types of cloth armor and cloaks and improving them. It is very difficult to propose a specific path here because the options are so many, but in general you will want to pick a sub-specialization to go for first from Outerwear, Outfits, and Embellishments, and then specialize into a specific armor slot type.
Making Gold with Tailoring in Dragonflight
Tailoring allows you to convert cheap cloth into expensive bolts and crafted gear or leg enchants. High-end gear pieces are likely to fetch a good price in the Crafting Orders system, which you can learn more details about in the specialized guide below:
While commodities sold on the auction house are less likely to go as high in price, they can be mass produced and sold for good profits over time.
We have a specialized guide for Dragonflight goldmaking below, which contains a goldmaking tier list and goes deeper into techniques and habits for successful gold making, as well as websites and addons that can help you on your journey!
