Herbalism Guide for Dragonflight
This page covers the most important aspects of Herbalism in Dragonflight, including talent builds and suggestions on how to make gold with the profession.
Herbalism in Dragonflight
As usual, Herbalism will be responsible for gathering herbs and related materials around the Dragon Isles.

Dragonflight introduces Crafting Specializations, which you are able to unlock once your profession skill hits 25. These serve as a profession talent tree system fueled by Herbalism Knowledge, obtained from weekly quests, one-time treasures in the Dragon Isles, Draconic Treatises, and first-time crafts.
While you will eventually be able to unlock all talents, doing so will require a long time as the sources of knowledge are very limited, especially once one-time treasures and first-crafts are exhausted.
Best Class for Herbalism in Dragonflight
Devastation Evokers with their unique Dracthyr mobility abilities, Soar and 2% baseline Perception gain racial, are easily a top contender for great herbalists.
The other main contender is the traditional Tauren Druid, who benefits from quicker gathering, +5 skill, and the natural ability to gather while flying in the old world.
Gathering Stats for Herbalism in Dragonflight
Dragonflight introduces three new stats specific to gathering professions: Perception, Deftness, and Finesse.
We explain what each stat does and how to maximize them in the specialized guide below:
Herbalism can make great use of all three stats, but you might want to focus on specific stats for different playstyles. We go into detail with Herbalism stats and the gear you can use to boost them in the specialized guide below:
Herb Types in Dragonflight
You can gather four base herb types:

All of these types can be found affected by Windswept, Frigid, Decayed, Lush, Infurious and Titan-Touched modifiers, with Infurious notably being present in War Mode and near World PvP objectives. We showcase images of herbs affected by these modifiers in the leveling guide below.
Leveling Herbalism in Dragonflight
The most important source of Herbalism skill is your profession level, which is increased by gathering different types of herbs in the Dragon Isles. While leveling is generally straightforward, you should still take into account the racials of the character you are leveling on and the skill level at which certain types of herbs stop giving skill, both of which are discussed in our specialized guide below:
Best Herbalism Specializations and Talents in Dragonflight
Herbalism Specializations dictate what herbs you are proficient at gathering, and can even let you herb while mounted! In fact, that feature is so strong that we would recommend you to invest 40 points into Botany to begin with, before branching out to any of our suggested builds below.

Herbalism Specializations are divided into three disciplines, each with multiple sub-specializations within which can be unlocked as you put points into their pre-requisite disciplines, akin to talent trees.
Best Botany Talents
Botany is always your starting point in order to learn how to gather while mounted at Botany 40. From there you can keep investing into the specialization or swap to Bountiful Harvests or Mastering the Elements, as you should have unlocked a second tree with skill 50 by then.
Best Bountiful Harvests Talents
Bountiful Harvests
focuses on the efficient gathering of each baseline herb type and on refining them
to maximum Quality. While you can specialize on any type of herb, we
currently recommend focusing on Bubble Poppy due to its very high demand
for Inscription, or on the Arboriculture node for its Perception
skill bonuses.
Best Mastering The Elements Talents
Mastering The Elements
is the best tree for increasing your Rousing and Awakened Essence gains while
gathering. Its main benefit is the ability to use Overload Elemental Herb
to gather a lot of materials quickly whenever it is up, and a lot of the power
comes from the baseline node of the tree, with each branch offering comparatively
weaker options.
Making Gold with Herbalism in Dragonflight
Herbalism makes gold by farming herbs in the Dragon Isles, with rarer herbs being looted based on your Perception stat.
As herbs are a common ingredient for Alchemy and Inscription, try to sell yours in raid days, when crafters are more likely to be looking to create and sell their wares. The Oribos Exchange can also help you understand the price fluctuation for herbs in your server, and which herbs are best to farm at any given moment.
We have a specialized guide for Dragonflight goldmaking below, which contains a goldmaking tier list and goes deeper into techniques and habits for successful gold making, as well as websites and addons that can help you on your journey!
