The Catalyst is a very important tool in acquiring Tier Set pieces, so let’s take a look at how it will work in Midnight Season 2.

Where to find the Catalyst

The Catalyst is located in Silvermoon City (coordinates: 40, 65), directly northwest of the Sanctum of Light.

Acquiring Catalyst Charges

For Season 2, the Catalyst Charge is the Venomblight Manaflux and will be used to convert items in the Catalyst to Tier Set items. One charge can be used to convert one item to the corresponding Tier Set item of the same slot.

Catalyst Charges will start to be acquired once Season 2 begins on the week of August 18. These charges will be granted automatically without any action required. A charge will be awarded automatically every other week to all characters.

Season 2 Mastery Achievement

Similar to previous seasons, the Midnight Season 2: Serpent Scion iconMidnight Season 2: Serpent Scion achievement awards one extra Catalyst Charge when completed.

This achievement can be earned by completing one of the following requirements:

  • Defeating Ula’tek in the Venomous Abyss on Heroic or Mythic difficulty
  • Attaining 2000+ Mythic Plus rating
  • Attaining 1600+ Rated PvP rating

This achievement can only be earned once per character by completing any of the objectives listed above.

Season 2 Catalyst Unbound Achievement

Introduced in Midnight, the Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound iconMidnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound achievement will allow players to earn more catalyst charges from various sources such as raiding, M+ dungeons, and bountiful delves. This achievement is character-specific and is unlocked by completing the class tier set bonuses on that character.

Changes to converting items

In previous seasons, converting an item to a tier set item via the Catalyst would also change the stats of that item to predetermined ones.

In Midnight Season 2, items will retain their secondary stats, as well as any cantrip effects when converted via the Catalyst.
