On this page, we present you with all spells and procs that you need to understand as a Arms Warrior in WotLK Classic.

Arms Warrior has a wide arsenal of spells available to them; knowing your important spells and when they are best suited to be used is a key part of performing well in any environment. The sections below aim to show you your most important spells by each category and give you a brief example of what each spell does.

1.

Arms Warrior Stances in Wrath of the Lich King

Warriors have 3 different stances, each having unique functions that are needed in certain situations. Some spells can only be used in certain stances as well, making it important for you to understand the general purpose each stance has.

  • Battle Stance IconBattle Stance — Increases Armor Penetration by 10% and allows the use of abilities that require Battle Stance IconBattle Stance. This is the main stance you will use as an Arms Warrior.
  • Defensive Stance IconDefensive Stance — Reduces all damage taken by 10%, reduces all damage dealt by 5%, and allows the use of abilities that require Defensive Stance IconDefensive Stance. Also greatly increases threat generation.
  • Berserker Stance IconBerserker Stance — Increases your crit chance by 3%, but increases all damage taken by 5% and allows the use of abilities that require Berserker Stance IconBerserker Stance.

Arms Warrior Damage Spells in Wrath of the Lich King

As an Arms Warrior, you will be focusing on dealing damage. These are all of your main damaging spells that you will want to focus on using.

  • Heroic Strike IconHeroic Strike — Increases the damage of your next melee attack. This turns your melee attack from a Rage-generating attack to a Rage-spending attack, costing you Rage twice essentially as you will lose the Rage you would have generated from the normal melee attack as well as the Rage you spent using Heroic Strike IconHeroic Strike. Only use this when you have a high amount of Rage to spend.
  • Heroic Throw IconHeroic Throw — Deals decent damage. Use this if your target is out of range.
  • Mortal Strike IconMortal Strike — Instantly deals damage and reduces all healing the target receives by 50%. If fighting an enemy that heals often, this is a great debuff to keep up.
  • Overpower IconOverpower — Deals damage to the target after your attack is dodged. Taste for Blood IconTaste for Blood allows use of this skill every 6 seconds. As Overpower IconOverpower only has a 1-second cooldown it is possible to use this back-to-back with a dodge and a proc.
  • Rend IconRend — Causes an enemy to bleed for damage over time. Deals 35% more damage to targets above 75% health. Keeping this debuff applied is a core part of an Arms Warrior's playstyle.
  • Thunder Clap IconThunder Clap — Deals damage to all nearby enemies.
  • Cleave IconCleave — Increases the damage of your next melee attack and causes it to hit an additional enemy. This turns your melee attack from a Rage-generating attack to a Rage-spending attack, costing you Rage twice essentially as you will lose the Rage you would have generated from the normal melee attack as well as the Rage you spent using Cleave IconCleave. Only use this when you have a high amount of Rage to spend.
  • Execute IconExecute — Costs 15 Rage and converts additional Rage into more damage, up to a maximum cost of 30 Rage. Requires the target to below 20% health before you can use this, or get a Sudden Death IconSudden Death proc.
  • Slam IconSlam — This has a cast time, requiring you to stand in place to use it. It only costs 15 Rage, making it a good damage dealing ability. While casting this, your melee attacks will be briefly paused and then resume after the cast finishes.
  • Victory Rush IconVictory Rush — This can only be used after you get the killing blow on an enemy that is a similar level to you. You can not get this proc by killing low level enemies, such as critters. It is rare to be able to use this ability as it requires you to get the killing blow to activate it, but be sure to use it if you can.

For a better understanding of what your damage rotation should be, be sure to check out your rotation page for a full explanation of both your single-target and AoE DPS rotations.

Arms Warrior Cooldowns in Wrath of the Lich King

Arms Warriors are lacking in damage-boosting cooldowns. Instead they have a wide array of AoE tools available to them, greatly increasing the amount of sustained cleave damage they can output.

  • Sweeping Strikes IconSweeping Strikes — 30-second cooldown. You will want to use this whenever there are multiple targets in range. This duplicates 5 of our attacks onto a nearby enemy.
  • Bladestorm IconBladestorm — 1.5-minute cooldown. This is the 51 talent point Arms ability. Bladestorm IconBladestorm casts Whirlwind IconWhirlwind every second for 6 seconds on up to 4 nearby enemies. This is a massive AoE cooldown and is even strong enough that you use it in your single-target rotation. This is most ideally used with your trinket procs as they have a 45-second cooldown, meaning every 90 seconds both Bladestorm IconBladestorm and your proc trinkets will line up perfectly. Lastly, be sure that your Rend IconRend will not fall off and use Overpower IconOverpower before using Bladestorm IconBladestorm so you can cast Overpower IconOverpower again as soon as the Bladestorm IconBladestorm ends.
  • Shattering Throw IconShattering Throw — 5-minute cooldown. This should be used as a raid DPS cooldown and coordinated with other raid DPS cooldowns like Heroism IconHeroism / Bloodlust IconBloodlust. The 20% Armor reduction stacks with other Armor reduction debuffs, such as Sunder Armor IconSunder Armor. With multiple Warriors in one raid, this will typically be coordinated to keep the debuff up back-to-back for a long period of time.
  • Recklessness IconRecklessness — 5-minute cooldown. Makes your next 3 special attacks guaranteed Critical Strikes. Try to line these attacks up with other cooldowns, such as Bladestorm IconBladestorm or while the boss is debuffed by Shattering Throw IconShattering Throw.
  • Enraged Regeneration IconEnraged Regeneration — 3-minute cooldown. This will consume an Enrage effect to restore 30% of your max health over 10 seconds. This can save your life during high damage spikes.
4.

Arms Warrior Utility Spells in Wrath of the Lich King

In addition to your main spells and cooldowns, you also have many utility spells that can be game-changing when used in the proper scenario. Make sure you understand each of the spells listed below to fully take advantage of your entire spellbook.

  • Charge IconCharge — Quickly rush to an enemy, stunning them and generating some Rage. Thanks to Juggernaut IconJuggernaut, you can use this ability in combat.
  • Berserker Rage IconBerserker Rage — Removes and makes you immune to fear and incapacitating effects. Useful if fighting any enemy that uses either of those. Counts as an Enrage effect.
  • Intercept IconIntercept — Quickly rush to an enemy, stunning them. Great for closing the gap on enemies far away.
  • Intimidating Shout IconIntimidating Shout — Fears nearby enemies for a short duration. Can be useful if you are in danger or surrounded by enemies.
  • Pummel IconPummel — Interrupts the target, preventing them from casting. This is an important spell that you should be making use of whenever needed. This spell is not on the global cooldown, letting you cast it freely.
  • Disarm IconDisarm — Removes your target's weapons for 10 seconds, greatly reducing the damage they deal.
  • Intervene IconIntervene — Rush to an ally, causing the next melee or ranged attack made against them to be redirected to you instead. Also reduces their threat by 10%. You may need to use this from time to time for mobility.
  • Shield Slam IconShield Slam — Dispels a magical buff on the target. Can be useful if you have no other way of removing a powerful magic buff from an enemy.
5.

Arms Warrior Buffs and Debuffs in Wrath of the Lich King

Buffs and debuffs are an important part of any party or raid group as they greatly increase your abilities to tank, heal and deal damage as a whole. Make sure you keep your buffs and debuffs up at all times to ensure the highest chance of success in whatever content you are in.
