Build Introduction
The Dance of Knives Rogue (DoK) is a spin-to-win build with a straightforward playstyle that anyone can enjoy.
Dance of Knives is converted to
Fan of Knives to shotgun enemies with multiple projectiles while moving at a blazing speed. Due to the high mobility and auto-aiming projectiles, the Dance of Knives Rogue is the best build to level a new character at the start of a season.

An extra 14 points are gained from completing Renown for Eternal Players and Seasonal Ranks for Seasonal Players. Allocate the extra points to gain additional Ranks to priority Skills faster, such as
Dance of Knives.
Once you have enough Energy sustain from
Overflow, make the following changes:
- Switch the Energy Cost Reduction modifier on
Dance of Knives to Slow and Movement Speed. - Switch the Energy modifier on
Blade Shift to Resistance.
If you are unsure about the usage of these Skills, read the Build Mechanics section after setting up your Skill Bar.
Wondering what comes after Level 70 or which Paragon boards to pick? Head to the Rogue Builds Page and choose an endgame build to continue your character progression.
Rogue Class Mechanic – Specialization
Once you reach Level 15, immediately complete the True Potential class questline to unlock the Rogue’s Specialization.
Combo Points is the preferred Specialization to gain increased damage and movement speed while channeling
Dance of Knives. The damage bonus can be snapshot by generating 3 Combo Points with
Blade Shift and then continuing to channel Dance of Knives indefinitely.

Gear, Stats, Gems, and Runes
The following sections cover the important systems that are essential to improving the power of your character during the leveling process. Higher Item Power generally indicates stronger gear, but you should also consider the affixes and effects that are relevant to your class and build.
Legendary Aspects
Legendary Aspects can be found on Legendary Items, which can be salvaged at the Blacksmith to unlock them in the Codex of Power for repeated imprinting onto your gear. Higher ranks for aspects are unlocked by salvaging Legendary Items with higher aspect values. Check the Aspect and Codex of Power guide for more general information.
Listed below are all the Aspects found on Legendary Items that are important for the Dance of Knives Rogue leveling build. They are listed in order of priority, with the most beneficial at the top. For the best results, combine these Aspects with the ideal Stat Priorities. The best-in-slot Aspects List is in the Endgame Guide for the Dance of Knives Rogue.

Stat Priority and Tempering Affixes
Listed below are the affixes to prioritize on gear during the early leveling of a Dance of Knives Rogue, ranked by importance. Affixes on the same line have equal value, so attempt to obtain all affixes in each line before moving on to the next.
Ensure you temper your best item upgrades regularly, as the extra affixes provide a significant advantage while leveling. Weapon and Offensive category tempers are especially powerful and can massively boost your damage output.
The Item Power of weapons determines their DPS and is the most important factor when selecting a Dual-Wielded Weapon. The choice between Daggers or Swords does not make a big difference in overall performance. Prioritize beneficial stat affixes on a Ranged Weapon instead of the DPS, as there are no attacks utilizing them in this build.
The most beneficial tempering affixes while leveling are included below. The best-in-slot tempering affixes are available in the Endgame Guide for the Dance of Knives Rogue. Check the Tempering Guide for more information on this system.

| Ranged Weapon | The Ranged Weapon is not used in any attacks, so its DPS does not matter. 1. Shadow Damage Multiplier, All Damage Multiplier 2. Dexterity, Maximum Life 3. Resource Cost Reduction, Lucky Hit Chance to Restore Primary Resource | Weapon: Attack Speed |
| Dual-Wielded Weapons | 1. Weapon Damage, Shadow Damage Multiplier, All Damage Multiplier 2. Dexterity, Maximum Life 3. Resource Cost Reduction, Lucky Hit Chance to Restore Primary Resource | Weapon: Attack Speed |

Build Mechanics
The Dance of Knives Rogue is a spin-to-win build featuring a simple playstyle that excels in all Diablo 4 activities.
Dance of Knives is converted into
Fan of Knives to shotgun enemies with multiple projectiles while moving at a blazing speed. While there are several utility skills to improve performance, Dance of Knives is channeled for the majority of combat.
Dark Shroud,
Shadow Imbuement,
Shadow Clone, and
Concealment can all be cast without interrupting channeling.
Combo Points apply a damage bonus to
Dance of Knives, which remains for the entire channeled duration. This snapshot is maintained by obtaining enough Mana sustain to channel the Core Skill indefinitely, so you do not have to generate Combo Points often. Use the Interact button to open doors, activate objects, and pick loot without needing to interrupt channeling Dance of Knives.
Blade Shift is cast 3 times to generate Combo Points before channeling
Dance of Knives. The Energy modifier rapidly generates Energy when spinning in tight circles while the player is directly on top of an enemy.
Dark Shroud grants increased Movement Speed and a massive multiplier to Energy Regeneration with its modifiers.
Shadow Imbuement explodes enemies for area-of-effect damage, while applying Vulnerable to enemies and granting Overpower stacks with its modifiers. The
Endemic modifier rapidly reduces the Cooldown when killing groups of enemies for 100% uptime.
Shadow Clone supplements damage output when maximum damage is needed.
Concealment generates Ferocity and Resolve, while increasing Critical Hit Chance with its modifiers.
Rotation and Playstyle
Use the following rotation to optimize the playstyle.
- Refresh
Dark Shroud constantly if you take damage to regain stacks that increase Movement Speed and Energy Regeneration. - Cast
Concealment when it is off Cooldown or when needed against tough enemies. - Cast
Blade Shift 3 times on the first enemy you encounter. - Channel
Dance of Knives. Continue to hold down the Skill to maintain the snapshotted damage bonus from Combo Points. - Refresh
Shadow Imbuement constantly to explode enemies for area-of-effect damage. - Spin on top of enemies to generate Energy through the Energy modifier on
Blade Shift if you do not yet have enough sustain. - Against bosses and tough elites, cast
Shadow Clone to maximize damage output.
