Season Journey and Renown have officially been retired on the Seasonal Realm. Everything is now combined into a single, streamlined system called Season Rank. If you are wondering how it works, how you progress, and what rewards you can unlock, this guide covers everything you might want to know.

What Are Season Ranks?

Season Rank is the progression path for every Seasonal character. You can think of it as a mix between the old Season Journey and Renown, just with a much bigger focus on capstone dungeons, challenges, and structured milestones.

Renown still exists in the Eternal Realm, but Seasonal characters no longer start with Skill Points or Paragon Points unlocked from Renown. Instead, you now earn that power directly from completing Season Ranks.

Each Rank has a list of objectives and a Capstone Dungeon. Clearing the Capstone pushes you into the next Rank, even if you do it early (before the recommended level).

Capstone Dungeons are now shorter, harder, and more thematic, and you no longer need to complete optional tasks inside them. Just kill the boss and move on.

Season Renown Changes

Here is what Renown now looks like for players on the seasonal realm:

  • Renown is permanent only on the Eternal Realm.
  • Altars of Lilith and Tenets of Akarat now reward XP only, not stats.
  • Extra potion capacity is removed from Renown and replaced with another Eternal bonus.
  • Eternal Renown now grants 12 additional Paragon Points.
  • Season Rank grants another 12 Paragon Points spread across the Ranks.
  • Seasonal characters earn Skill Points and Paragon Points only by clearing Season Ranks.

This means you truly start fresh, and your power ramps up as you climb through the Ranks.

How Season Ranks Work

Season Ranks follow a very simple, basic loop:

  1. Start at Rank 1
  2. Complete the Rank’s objectives
  3. Clear its Capstone Dungeon
  4. Move into the next Rank
  5. Earn Skill Points, Paragon Points, cosmetics, and Seasonal rewards

Each Rank is more difficult than the one before it, and unlocking later Ranks opens new endgame systems.

For example: Clearing Rank 2 unlocks access to both The Pit and The Tower.

Season Rank Rewards

  • Rank 1 and 2 → Skill Point
  • Rank 3 → Skill Point + Paragon Point
  • Rank 4 and 5 → Paragon Point
  • Rank 6 → Paragon Point + bonus

In short, your early-game power comes from Season Rank, not Renown. This is now the only way to unlock these progression boosts for your seasonal character.

Smoldering Ashes (Seasonal Blessings Currency)

Smoldering Ashes work through Season Rank. By spending these, you gain permanent bonuses that apply account-wide for the seasonal realm.

Season Rank progression is shared across all Seasonal characters, so you do not need to repeat early Ranks on alts.
