The mystery of the second class for the Lord of Hatred expansion has finally been solved. During today’s 30th Anniversary Spotlight, Blizzard officially introduced the Warlock as the dark counterpart to the Paladin.
Although we are still waiting on the full skill tree reveal and other details, the developers already gave us a clear look at the class identity. The Diablo 4 Warlock is a fully realized Vizjerei master who has moved beyond mere study to embrace the power of Hell with brutal force. The design goal for the team was to simply make a character that feels like a “metal album cover come to life,” as they said.
What We Know About the Warlock So Far
Unlike the versions seen in the reveal for Diablo 2 Resurrected or Immortal, the Diablo 4 Warlock seems very much at the height of their strength. They are an “antihero that weaponizes the wrath of Hell against itself” using metal chains, flames, and pure destruction.
This class is clearly designed to be the “dark mirror” to the Paladin, leaning into the eternal conflict between light and shadow. Where the Paladin is representing purity, the Warlock represents the grit and sacrifice required to fight fire with fire.

Full Developer Update Coming March 5
Blizzard is saving the full, in-depth look at the class for a dedicated broadcast. A Full Warlock Developer Update is officially scheduled for March 5th. This is where we will likely see more about:
- Gameplay Mechanics, especially regarding how the Warlock’s specific resources and “Hell-powered” combat work in practice
- More lore on their Vizjerei roots and how they fit into the Skovos campaign
- A look at the Skill Tree (preview) and how the Warlock interacts with the newly overhauled system
The Warlock is going to launch with the Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28, 2026. Between the return of the Horadric Cube, other new endgame systems, a new zone, and this brutal new class, the expansion is going to bring some of the biggest changes in Diablo 4 history.
