Everyone loves their in-game avatar, regardless of what they wish to focus on: like how strong, how attractive, or how unique… you name it! The following changes are meant to further deepen your bond to your in-game Warrior of Light in FFXIV!
Everything announced below was mentioned on Day 1 at the NA Fan Festival in Anaheim, April 2026! Feel free to watch the official livestream here on YouTube or Twitch. Keep in mind that everything below is expected to release in Patch 8.0, alongside the Evercold expansion release. Things may change significantly before January 2027 rolls around, so keeps your eyes peeled!
Armoury System Update
First off, we have the Armoury System Update. You will still need to level each job individually, but your highest item level will sync across all of your jobs. Gone are the days where one main job gets to eat plentifully, while your alt jobs starve! And if you typically only main one job, perhaps this will give you the chance to try other roles!
They will still allow customization with stats and materia melds for the different jobs, but the idea is to give players more freedom of choice on what to play in more content. For example, you’ll be able to help fill in for a friend’s raid group on jobs you normally would not be able to.
Character Action Skins
Secondly, we will also get Character Action Skins! These can be obtained as rewards and will allow you to change your animations. Pick and choose which actions you think best fit your Warrior of Light’s style! Please look forward to it, with more details from the Berlin Fan Fest in July!
Character Creation Updates
Building upon the graphical update in Patch 7.0, the Character Creation system is now ready to be expanded. While it’ll start in Patch 8.0 next January, they plan to continue development throughout various patches in Evercold.
We’ll have access to a color picker for eye color, hair color, and skin tone! No longer will you be constrained to the set of colors provided, so unleash your creativity and tailor your character’s appearance to your heart’s desire.
Go the extra mile and tinker with the iris size, lip glossiness, eye shadow, and face paint layering! Once again, this is just the start. Expect more changes as 8.x progresses! Perhaps we’ll get another Fantasia along with this change? (Or maybe more? 👀 I do love my free mystery juice…)
Toggle On/Off for Specific Elements on Gear
Lastly, we will be able to toggle on and off certain parts of individual gear pieces. For example, take away leather belts or tassels on the waist to further customize your glamours. Tweak your glam to match the season or the vibes of the location! Oh dear, I’m afraid I’ll need more space in my Glamour Dresser after Patch 8.0 drops…
