Amongst the flurry of announcements at Anaheim FanFest back in April, one of the big ones for FFXIV was the MMO’s arrival on the Switch 2. While players might have to pay a different subscription to play (albeit discounted), very soon players will be able to take their warrior of light on-the-go. Here’s what was announced at FanFest Berlin:
Release Date and Bundle Information
Those chomping at the bit to play on the Switch 2 will not have to wait much longer. Yoshi-P confirmed the release date would be August 4th. At that point the game will go on sale, along with the free trial. To ensure server stability, players will be able to play one month (August to early September) without paying a subscription.
As a reminder the Nintendo Switch 2 version will require a separate subscription, even if you already pay for one on a different platform. However, the Switch 2 version will not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and pre-existing FFXIV players on other platforms will receive a 50% discount on a Switch sub.
Pre-orders are available now from the Nintendo online store. A few different versions are available:
Starter Edition: Includes the base game and all expansions up to Shadowbringers.

Complete Edition: Includes base game and all expansions up to Dawntrail. This one is normally $59.99, but is on a 30% discount until 8/12/26 midnight. And of course…
Complete Collector’s Edition: Includes everything in the Complete Edition, plus all of the collector’s items like mounts, minions, weapons, and more. This is also discounted until 8/12/26.
The Starter, Complete, and Complete Collector’s edition all include a bundled 30-day play period. While Dawntrail is available for separate purchase, it doesn’t appear that Endwalker is available on its own. Players will need to get the Complete or Complete Collector’s Editions to access it. The game will have an estimated file size of 117.2 GB, so plan accordingly.
