Is Genshin Impact’s Flins Hinting at a New Era for Electro Teams?

Flins officially arrives in Genshin Impact Phase 2 of Version 6.0 this week, and HoYoverse just dropped his big character trailer. But beyond the cool vibes and dramatic lines, the new 5-Star Electro polearm character might be the one to finally change how we build Electro teams in Genshin Impact!

A Trailer Full of Urgency and Power

The Flins trailer sets a dark, urgent tone. Chased through frozen fog, haunted by corrupted souls, and guided only by a mysterious blue flame, Flins declares his mission loud and clear:

Those warriors called me here for a singular purpose… to eradicate the Wild Hunt.

It is all about destruction, cleansing, and defiance, and that theme carries perfectly into his actual gameplay design.

Flins’ Role in Genshin Impact 6.0

On the battlefield, Flins is not just another Electro DPS. He is the first 5-Star DPS designed around the Lunar-Charge reaction, that blends Electro and Hydro for new electric effects:

  • Main DPS Focus – Flins is made to spearhead Lunar-Charge teams.
  • Synergy – He can create the reaction on his own, but his real strength lays with Nod-Krai characters like Ineffa and Aino, who trigger it for him and keep his buffs rolling.
  • Specialization Over Flexibility – Do not expect him to slot into Overload or Hyperbloom teams easily, his entire kit is built for Lunar-Charge.

Why This Matters for Electro Teams

Electro has long had strong support units and niche playstyles, but it has been a while since the element had a true meta-defining DPS. Flins could be the character that changes that balance, giving Electro players a new team identity to rally around.

And because Lunar-Charge requires more specific setups, he might also push players to build around entirely new comps instead of just mixing-and-matching old favorites.

One thing is sure, you might regret not pulling for Ineffa if you wanted to go for Flins. Luckily, you do get Aino for free if you complete the Nod-Krai story.

So… Is Flins a Game-Changer?

That is the big question. On one hand, he is locked into a niche, which limits flexibility. On the other, he represents a clear push from HoYoverse to make Lunar-Charge a cornerstone of 6.0’s meta.

Either way, Flins’ arrival feels like the start of something new for Electro. He will be available during Phase 2 of Version 6.0 starting September 30, 2025, and you can learn more about him, his abilities, build, and teams in our in-depth guide:
