Genshin Impact Version Luna VII is almost here, and with it comes a new set of limited banners featuring the first run of Nicole alongside the rerun of Durin.
The update launches on May 20, and many players are probably going to be focused on pulling Nicole. However, the most important information might be the incredibly strong synergy between the two featured 5-Stars, and a certain Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius who has felt a little bit abandoned for a few months.
The banners will also include the new 4-Star character Prune, and rate-up appearances for Fischl and Razor.
Nicole Looks Like One of the Strongest Buffers in Luna VII
Nicole enters the game as a support-focused Pyro character built around:
- Powerful universal buffing
- Team-wide ATK support
- Strong defensive utility through near-permanent Shield uptime
- Synergy with Hexerei characters
Unlike many Pyro supports, Nicole does not heavily apply Pyro off-field, and this is a pretty good advantage for a few teams since she will not disrupt certain reactions when she is off-field. Her biggest strength is clearly how flexible she is.
Team-wise, Nicole works especially well with ATK-scaling carries, Hexerei DPS, and double Pyro supports. She also has excellent free-to-play weapon options and is very easy to build overall.
Durin and Nicole Already Look Like a Top-Tier Duo
On top of being an excellent support, Nicole and Durin together may already form one of the strongest support combinations introduced in Luna VII. Durin provides good Pyro application, RES Shred support, flexible Sub DPS damage, and additional Hexerei synergy bonuses.
The result is a support duo that can slot into a ton of different compositions.
Varka Players May Want Nicole More Than Anyone Else
One thing becoming more and more clear from early Luna VII theorycrafting is just how important Nicole may become for Varka teams specifically. Varka has not gotten the love he deserved since he launched, but Nicole should really push his power further! And if you have both Nicole and Durin, they synergize extremely well with him, and buff his DMG even more.
So even if Nicole is technically not mandatory, for those who heavily invested in Varka, you will probably get the most value out of her banner.
With Nicole, Durin, and Prune all appearing together, Luna VII is clearly pushing Hexerei synergy much harder than previous versions. And honestly, it is not a bad thing. The Hexerei bonuses first launched without any real reason to use them, and this may end up creating an entirely new top-tier archetype.
One thing is sure: if you do have Varka, you probably want to have Nicole as well. I know we are not that many players in this situation, but as a Varka main, I guarantee you, you will want her.
