WoW Forever officially launches in a week, and the planning is officially underway! Early name reservations are live, drivers are being updated, and preparations are being made for what could potentially be Blizzard’s biggest launch ever. 

But there are some important decisions to be made before jumping in.

Forever is heavily reworking all nine original classes. From new talents and abilities, to new class/race combos, how do you know where to start? Luckily, our WoW Forever Choosing Your Class guide is here to help.

Classes, Roles, and Playstyles

There’s a lot to consider when choosing a main. Here are just some of those questions:

• Which role do you prefer playing – Tank, Healer, or DPS? Or do you want to play all of them?
• How reactive do you want the gameplay to be?
• Do you prefer Melee or Ranged?
• How important is group utility to you?
• What type of damage would you rather deal?
• Does the class fantasy resonate with you?

If you want more freedom of choice, Paladin and Druid both cover all roles, with Druid covering both Melee and Ranged DPS. Or perhaps you know you’re a cloth-wearing Ranged DPS enjoyer, but how do you pick between Mage, Warlock, and Priest?

It’s important to remember: the correct class to choose is the one you enjoy playing. Blizzard is constantly tuning and rebalancing classes, so whichever class may be strongest at launch—or was strongest back in Classic—may not be the meta for long!
