There are currently a total of 9 classes available for players to choose from in WoW Forever, and unlike previous versions of the game, there are no faction-specific classes.
Reaching level 60 in early versions of World of Warcraft can be incredibly time consuming, making your class choice an important decision before you start playing. Below you will find our previews for each individual class, highlighting their playstyle with a heavy focus on PvE content. If a class interests you, be sure to follow the given link for a deeper dive into that specific class.
Druid
Druids are by far the most flexible class in WoW Forever, having the ability
to fulfill every major combat role needed. By utilizing their various shapeshifting
forms Druids are able to tank with
Bear Form, deal either melee damage with
Cat Form or ranged damage with
Moonkin Form, and are exceptional
healers despite not having a healing specific form. This makes Druids the only
class in the game that can fill any role it desires!
| Specializations | Balance, Feral (Melee DPS or Tank), Restoration |
| Armour Type | Cloth, Leather |
| Races | NightElf, Tauren, Skyborne |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Druids Perform?
Druid's main advantage is flexibility, being able to fill all roles in the game all but guarantees that your Druid will fit into any group. While this flexibility previously came at the cost of being weaker than more specialized classes, WoW Forever aims to make every class viable and competitive, making Druid one of the best classes in the game!

Hunter
Hunters are masters of the wild who primarily fight from a distance with bows or guns while their loyal animal companion fights by their side. Hunters track their prey, setting up traps to control the battle, and use their pets to keep enemies busy while they attack safely from range. WoW Forever gives Hunters the ability to specialize in melee combat, allowing them to ditch the ranged weapons in favor of fighting alongside their pet up close and personal.
| Specializations | Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, Survival |
| Armour Type | Cloth, Leather, Mail |
| Races | Human, Dwarf, NightElf, Orc, Tauren, Troll, Skyborne |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Hunters Perform?
Hunters are a strong choice, bringing reliable ranged and melee damage that scales exceptionally well with gear. In addition to great damage, they also bring useful utility with various traps, and are able to survive many raid mechanics thanks to their higher health pools and mail armor.

Mage
Mages are ranged spellcasters that channel Arcane, Fire, and Frost magic to
deal damage from a distance. They can burn down single enemies, clear groups
with powerful area-of-effect spells, and use slows, freezes, and
Polymorph
to control their enemies and fight on their own terms.
Mages are powerful, but somewhat fragile, making much of the class about keeping enemies at a distance while you cast. They also bring some of the best utility in the game, allowing them to conjure food and water for the group, and create portals that allow their group to quickly travel around Azeroth.
| Specializations | Arcane, Fire, Frost |
| Armour Type | Cloth |
| Races | Human, Gnome, Skyborne, Orc, Troll, Undead |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Mages Perform?
Mage looks like a highly viable ranged DPS class in WoW Forever thanks to its'
mix of strong damage, crowd control, AoE, and group utility. Arcane
has a more complete damage rotation with
Arcane Blast and
Missile Barrage, Fire can weave in faster
Pyroblasts through
Hot Streak, and Frost expands on controlling enemies and its "frozen-target"
gameplay with
Ice Lance and
Fingers of Frost. With utility such
as
Polymorph,
Counterspell,
Frost Nova, and
strong AoE, Mage brings plenty of value beyond raw damage and should fit well
into leveling, dungeons, raids, and PvP.

Paladin
Paladin is a holy avenger, combining heavy armor, powerful weapons, healing magic, and protective blessings into one class. You can stand on the front line as a tank, heal your allies with the Holy magic, or dish out damage as a melee with holy strikes, seals, and judgments to punish your enemies. Paladins truly shine when facing Undead and Demonic enemies, using the Light to eradicate evil wherever it can be found.
| Specializations | Holy, Protection, Retribution |
| Armour Type | Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate |
| Races | Human, Dwarf, Undead |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Paladins Perform?
Paladin is one of two classes in WoW that is able to perform all three roles: tanking, healing and damage dealer; this allows the class to remain highly versatile, being able to fit the needs of any group they come across. Holy offers reliable healing focused mostly on single-target, better than any other class. Protection can tank as well as any other class, and is not limited to 4 targets like every other tank. While Retribution does not deal as much damage as DPS only classes can do, it brings much desirable utility with its' various buffs and debuffs. With its' high utility, unique buffs, numerous emergency cooldowns, and the option to play all three group roles, Paladin is a very viable class at all times in WoW.

Priest
Priest is faith driven spellcaster, using either the Light to heal their allies wounds, or converting to the Darkness to destroy their enemies with Shadow damage spells. Priests wear cloth armor and are not very durable when enemies are nearby, making them extremely reliant on positioning. Healing Priests can burn through Mana quickly, making spell decisions matter greatly; control and mastery are more important for them than with any other class. Priest is a great choice if you enjoy being an important part of any group, fortifying your allies with numerous buffs, and having a wide range of useful spells to choose from for every situation.
| Specializations | Discipline, Holy, Shadow |
| Armour Type | Cloth |
| Races | Human, Dwarf, Gnome, NightElf, Troll, Undead |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Priests Perform?
Priest is a staple group member in World of Warcraft and this will remain the
case in WoW Forever. Having two specs focused on healing, and Shadow offering a
strong ranged damage option, Priests will always be desired in any group. Priests
also bring unique group buffs such as
Power Word: Fortitude and
Divine Spirit, which is now a baseline spell for any spec. Priest will
remain a top-tier healer and nearly every group will desire several of them,
making it a great choice overall.

Rogue
Rogue is a stealth-focused melee class built around sneaking around the battlefield, choosing when to strike, and catching enemies off guard. While in direct combat, Rogues focus on building up Combo Points with their attacks and spending them on finishing moves that increase in power based on how many Combo Points were spent. In addition to their unique Combo Point combat style, Rogues also bring their own utility such as lock-picking to open locked chests and doors, a wide arsenal of special poisons, and shut down key targets with back-to-back stuns and interrupts.
Rogues excel when they can plan their approach, choose which fights to take (ideally on a squishy target), and escape if things go wrong. Rogues are a great choice if you enjoy sneaky gameplay, taking fights on your terms, and winning through tactics rather than brute force.
| Specializations | Assassination, Combat, Subtlety |
| Armour Type | Cloth, Leather |
| Races | Human, Dwarf, Gnome, NightElf, Skyborne, Orc, Troll, Undead |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Rogues Perform?
Rogue is a strong melee DPS class that brings more than just raw damage; each spec focuses on dealing damage in different ways. Assassination Rogues focus on enhancing their poisons and debilitating their target. Combat leans into direct weapon damage and sustained fighting, making it a favorite for PvE. Subtlety puts a heavy emphasis on Stealth, openers, and control, making it the go-to choice for PvP.
Rogues ability to control dangerous enemies, avoid unwanted fights, and quickly shut down priority targets such as spell-casters makes them highly valuable in both dungeons and PvP scenarios. On top of that, their strong single-target damage capabilities makes them a great choice in raids, making them a solid choice overall.

Shaman
Shamans are spiritual guides who communicate directly with the elements of natural and spirits that exist throughout the world, drawing directly on fire, water, earth, and air for strength. Elemental Shamans utilize the raw power of nature to cast deadly Lightning, Fire and Nature spells, while Enhancement Shamans channel that same power through their weapons, enhancing their melee-attacks directly. Shamans are also able to heal their allies as Restoration, leaning heavily on water spirits to mend wounds and support their allies.
Shamans can also channel their power directly into a spiritual emblem known as a totem. Each totem acts like a spiritual focus for a specific element (fire, water, earth, or air), supporting your group with buffs that only Shamans can provide.
| Specializations | Elemental, Enhancement, Restoration |
| Armour Type | Cloth, Leather, Mail |
| Races | Dwarf, Orc, Troll, Tauren, Skyborne |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Shaman Perform?
Shamans are arguably the most sought after class in World of Warcraft for the massive amount of utility they bring to their group. Totems offer some of the most powerful buffs in the game, so much so that most raids try to bring at least one Shaman for each individual group, leading to several being in each raid.
Elemental Shamans have extremely high burst damage and AoE damage in short
bursts, making them excellent in both PvP situations as well as short fights like
trash in dungeons and raids. Enhancement brings sustained melee-damage and
strong group-wide buffs in PvE combat, while also having some of the highest
burst potential in the game in PvP. Restoration are one of the most desired
healers in World of Warcraft thanks to the support their buffs provide, and arguably
the best healing spell in the game,
Chain Heal. Shamans will always have
a spot in any content, and is likely the most wanted class in WoW.

Warlock
Warlocks are masters of demons and Fel magic, using curses, banes, and other
afflictions to either reign down destruction on their foes or to rot them out.
Warlocks are one of the top damage dealers in WoW Forever, while also being
vital to any raid because of their unique utility spells, such as
Ritual of Summoning and
Curse of the Elements.
| Specializations | Affliction, Demonology, Destruction |
| Armour Type | Cloth |
| Races | Human, Gnome, Orc, Troll, Undead |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Warlocks Perform?
Warlock is a strong ranged DPS class in WoW Forever, with each spec focusing on different ways to improve the damage you deal. Affliction focuses on improving your damage-over-time abilities, drain spells, and execute damage. Demonology leans heavily into your summoned demons, making them stronger than ever or allowing you to sacrifice for a personal power boost. Destruction is a direct-damage spec, built around heavy Fire and Shadow spells, strong crits, and sustained damage through back-to-back casting.
Warlocks also bring excellent utility through their various demonic pets,
debuffs like
Curse of Recklessness, Healthstones,
Soulstones, crowd control, and high survivability, making them useful
in leveling, dungeons, raids, and PvP even before considering their damage
capabilities.

Warrior
Warriors are the masters of weapons and armor, relying only on their raw strength and toughness rather than magic. Warriors fight directly in the middle of the battle field, controlling enemies up close, and turning incoming or outgoing damage into Rage for powerful attacks or defensive abilities.
Warriors have many options when it comes to their gear, being able to specialize in any weapon of their choosing. Arms focuses on massive two-handed weapons, using well-timed strikes to overpower their enemies. Fury is a relentless berserker, prioritizing fast attacks and overwhelming their enemies with an unending flurry of blows. Protection is the tank option for Warrior, turning you into a bulwark of steel by utilizing a heavy shield to protect your allies by controlling your enemies and withstanding brutal attacks.
| Specializations | Arms, Fury, Protection |
| Armour Type | Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate |
| Races | Human, Dwarf, Gnome, NightElf, Skyborne, Orc, Troll, Tauren, Undead |
| Recommended Professions | Profession bonuses are currently unknown in WoW Forever, we will update this section once the information is available! |
How Well do Warriors Perform?
Warrior remains extremely powerful in WoW Forever, scaling excellently from both weapons and gear as you progress through content. While Warrior won't be miles ahead of other classes as it is in Classic WoW, it will still remain a very solid choice in WoW Forever.
Arms remains a primarily PvP focused spec, keeping
Mortal Strike and
gaining Spearing Strike to dismount players and control areas of the
battlefield. Fury is still the go-to PvE damage spec, dual-wielding weapons for
fast attacks, unlimited
Cleaves, and powerful
Whirlwinds.
Protection is the dedicated tanking spec for Warriors, using a shield, improved
threat, defensive abilities and higher AoE threat to control enemies and protect
your allies. Together these three specs give Warriors a clear place in all content
as either a melee DPS or a durable front-line tank.
