If you were holding out hope for a fresh Season of Discovery server, then we must disappoint you. Blizzard has officially shut that idea down.

WoW Classic developer Josh Greenfield confirmed there are no plans for fresh SoD servers, explaining that launching and maintaining a new server is “not as trivial” as people think.

No New SoD = Classic+ Confirmed?

While the news may disappoint some players, it has also added fuel to the Classic+ fire. Greenfield mentioned that the team is busy with “other things,” leading many fans to wonder if Blizzard is focusing its resources on something much bigger.

Classic+ speculation is currently at an all-time high. Over the past few months, WoW content creators were invited to Blizzard for something top secret, with Executive Producer Holly Longdale hinting that Classic players have “a lot to look forward to.”

Of course, nothing about Classic+ has been officially confirmed yet, but with Greenfield ending his post with a “See you guys at BlizzCon!”, it’s easy to see why speculation is ramping up. For now, though, if you were planning to jump into Season of Discovery, don’t wait for fresh servers—they aren’t on the way.
