Players will be seeing more collector events in the future, with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas confirming events such as
Collector’s Bounty and Remix are likely to return. The confirmation came during the Q&A hosted by the WoW Ambassador Discord on Friday.
Collector’s Bounty “Basically Certain” to Return
Ion didn’t elaborate on the details, but acknowledged the event would be rare. He added there’s a balance the team has to meet. If it’s too often, farming old content becomes almost pointless outside of the buff. Simultaneously, they don’t want the event to feel meaningless, and want it to feel “tangibly different” when it comes around.
The original Collector’s Bounty event took place in July of last year, significantly increasing drop rates for all legacy content and the amount of loot bosses dropped. The first-of-its-kind event gave players time during the end of Season 2 in TWW to focus on collecting transmogs, toys, pets, and mounts at increased rates.

Remix Experiences Will Continue
In addition, Remix events will make a return. Blizzard likes that players get to experience old expansions with better pacing and feel relevant rather than one-shotting everything on retail. In addition, players can get rewards they missed out on and experience new ones.
Blizzard has already remixed Pandaria and Legion, and players have been speculating since the previous one ended just before the Midnight pre-patch on which expansion is next to be remixed.
What About Legacy Content as a Whole?
Blizzard wants to make sure there’s a sense of completion when it comes to collecting things in older content, and doesn’t want to try and force players back into old content when they’ve collected everything. Ion added that there’s some older content without housing decor, so they may go back and eventually sprinkle some more into older content, but their focus is ensuring that collectors have goals and feel a sense of completion.
More From the Q&A
The full question asked was:
“Collector’s Bounty seems to be incredibly popular. What’s your long-term vision for keeping legacy content relevant for collectors? Should players expect Collector’s Bounty to become a recurring event? More Remix experiences? Other initiatives that encourage revisiting older content and earning legacy collectibles?“
