How to Obtain All Collectibles From the Val Showdown Zone

Val is one of the new Showdown areas in Patch 12.0.7, and the zone available for exploration this week. There are cosmetics you can obtain from achievements and exploration. Learn how to get them before Val is rotated out next week!

Val Achievement Rewards

There are two meta achievements that require doing things in Val. Here’s what you can do this week and the rewards you can earn.

Heroic Showdowns

This achievement requires completing activities for both Val and Naigtal in Heroic World Tier. If you have done Naigtal achievements last week, this achievement can be completed!

This achievement unlocks the Tortured Gorger mount for purchase.

Heroic: Worlds Ahead	Yes, if done with Naigal quests last week. World Quests in Showdown Zones respawn every 20 minutes and last for 1 hour. You can obtain criteria for the following Val World Quests this week: – Lingering Corruption – Freeze Range Eggs – A Lingering Echo – Ignoble Gas Collector – Junction Dysfunction – Solid Cold – Shadowy Strategies – Dissent and Divide – Cold Reception – Tainted Ritual – Until it is Done – Aberration Liberation – Caver Saviour – One Friend is Plenty – Aberration Liberation
Heroic: Power Creep	Yes! Search around Val for mobs with buffs and kill them. Rares have guaranteed buffs.
Heroic: Pain of Command	Yes, if done with Naigtal’s world boss last week. You can get credit for Imperator Pertinax in Heroic World Tier.
Heroic Climate Strange: Val	Yes! Complete the Bonus Objective “Storm Mitigation” 5 times in Heroic World Tier for the achievement. Bonus Objectives respawn roughly every couple of hours.
Heroic Climate Strange: Naigtal	No. Naigtal is not available this week, so none of the Naigtal-only achievements can be obtained.
Heroic Slugger	Yes, if done with Naigtal rares last week. Rares respawn every 15 minutes with a zone announcement accompanying them. Once a rare spawns, you have three minutes to reach their location before they become attackable. You can obtain criteria for the following Val rares this week: – Nelgothar – Sleet-Rune – Atomus – Glacial Broodmother – Mercilus – Xirah – Kriikan – Opprimius – The Horror Below – Shadowguard Destroyer

A Trip Around the Stars

This achievement requires completing activities in Val. This achievement can be completed in either Normal or Heroic World Tier. It is not completable this week, but you can get it started!

This achievement unlocks the Voidmancer’s Starcarver mount for purchase.

Into the Stars	Yes, if done with Naigtal last week. The achievement requires the intro quests for both zones. You can earn credit for “A Frigid Welcome to Val” this week.
Prepared for a Showdown	No. Some of those quests are in Naigtal, some of them are timegated. You can complete “The Road Not Taken Twice” this week.
Frosty Domanaar Politics	No. The zone quests for Val are timegated, with new quests every week. You can earn credit for the “Victory Within Hindsight” storyline this week by completing all quests in the base camp.
Climate Strange: Val	Yes! Complete the Bonus Objective “Storm Mitigation” 5 times for the achievement. Bonus Objectives respawn roughly every couple hours.
Showdown Slugger: Val	Yes! Rares respawn every 15 minutes with a zone announcement accompanying them. Once a rare spawns, you have three minutes to reach their location before they become attackable. Not all Val rares are required for the achievement.
Showdown Success: Val	Yes! World Quests in Showdown Zones respawn every 20 minutes and last for 1 hour. Not all Val world quests are required for the achievement.

Val Collectibles

There are not a lot of collectibles you can get in Naigtal – One Cosmetic piece and a hidden Feat of Strength.

Ice Guardian’s Sleetblade Cosmetic

This is a really cool One-Handed Sword cosmetic transmog that resembles a lightsaber, and requires a little bit of footwork in Heroic World Tier. To obtain it, you must first interact with the Enchanted Hilt inside the Sleetrune Hollow cavern on the Southeast portion of Val. Interacting with it gives you the Testament buff, asking to prove your worth.

You prove your worth by slaying rare mobs in Val while in Heroic World Tier. Slaying them gives you the buff Vanquishing. Once you obtain two stacks of the buff, you will be proven worthy! Return to Sleetrune Hollow and interact with the Hilt again to pull it from its icy prison and obtain the transmog.

Frosticus Maximus Battle Pet

This battlet pet is purchasable after completing the achievement Ultradon Carnage, which requires killing 100 creatures while controlling an Ultradon Slayer. This is only possible on the world quest Until it is Done.

As kills add multiple % worth of the quest bar, it is recommended to do this achievement while in a raid group – that way, you do not earn credit towards quest completion, but you do earn credit towards the achievement.

Once completed, you can purchase the battle pet from Kifaan at the base camp.

Fishstick Keith Battle Pet

This battle pet is purchasable after completing the achievement Climate Strange: Val, which requires you to dissipate 5 storms in Val. Storms are represented by the bonus objective “Storm Mitigation” – just find and complete it times. This achievement can be sped up by completing the bonus objective on multiple characters.

Once completed, you can purchase the battle pet from Kifaan at the base camp. Unlike most rewards from Kifaan, this pet does not cost Voidlight Marl – instead, you will need 50 Sin’dorei Swarmer (obtained from fishing in Midnight zones).

A Celestial Pain Hidden Feat of Strength

This hidden Feat of Strength requires you to dodge 100 lightning strikes in a row. You will get hit by lightning strikes during the bonus objective Thunder Pains.

To dodge the lightning, you need to use the provided Evade Lightning ability while on the bonus objective. It is recommended to do this in a raid group so as to not accidentally complete the objective.

• You will know your character is about to get hit by lightning once blue sparks show up around your character. The timing varies, but on average, it happens once every four seconds. You can macro your extra action button to an easier keybind by using the following macro command:

• To help spot the lightning, use a bird’s-eye camera view on your character. Inky Black Potion also happens with particle clarity. You can pick them up from the tables at the Arcantina while the Darkmoon Faire is inactive.
• Other players can hit you with their own lightning strikes, so be wary of their positioning.

As of the time of posting, there are no rewards for this besides the Feat of Strength itself… but maybe an Onion Knight title will be a thing in the future, as this achievement is a reference to the Final Fantasy X weapon.
