The Corrosive Codex is one of the new ways to make your character even stronger while tackling foes on the Coiled Isle in Midnight Season 2. With 12 different powers to choose from, it can be difficult to know what to spend your
Corrosive Souls on.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Corrosive Codex, including which powers to unlock first!
How Do You Unlock Corrosive Powers?
Corrosive Powers are bought at the Altar of Corrosion for
Corrosive Souls. Each power costs 8
Corrosive Souls, which can be earned through completing Season 2 World content on the Coiled Isle, Prey, and Bountiful Delves.
Corrosive Powers can be unlocked in any order, so you can prioritise the ones that best suit your character. These powers can also be switched out, so you aren’t locked into your choices forever!

Best Corrosive Powers With One Slot
If you’re only able to run one Corrosive Power, we’d recommend starting with
Ula’tek’s Gift. However, if you’d like to run something different,
Ophidian Maw is best for AoE, and
Gorgoneion Gaze is your best defensive option.
Best Corrosive Powers With Two Slots
Once you’ve unlocked the required 8 powers to open your second slot, you can now start pairing effects that work well together:
-
Ouroboric Cycle +
Plague of Corrosion – Best Overall: Ouroboric Cycle rotates through increased tertiary, secondary, and primary Stats. While you’re poisoned, each stage lasts longer, while kills can also keep the cycle going. Plague of Corrosion provides a source of poison, making it an obvious pairing. -
Ouroboric Cycle +
Accursed Poison – Best Alternative: Accursed Poison is another good pairing for Ouroboric Cycle, also providing a source of poison. -
Ula’tek’s Gift +
Insidious Venom – Single-Target Option: Insidious Venom can poison you, and being poisoned causes Ula’tek’s Gift to apply additional stacks. This makes Ula’tek’s Gift ramp up much faster, making the pairing good for more difficult single targets. -
Gorgoneion Gaze + Any Damage Power – Defensive Setup: If you’re struggling to survive, Gorgoneion Gaze can give you an emergency ten second break to heal up before the fight starts again.
The Corrosive Codex is really at its best once you’ve got enough powers unlocked to start mixing and matching—and with 96
Corrosive Souls needed to unlock all 12, there are plenty of options!
