ZZZ Players Found a Surprisingly Strong Velina Team That Ignores Her Biggest Synergy

Zenless Zone Zero 3.0 (ZZZ) players have discovered an unusually effective team composition that is gaining traction with the wider community. Built around the newly released 3.0 Agent, Velina, and 2.0’s standout anomaly support, Yuzuha, the setup is surprising players due to how it functions, turning the third member of the team, Nangong, into a main DPS.

Interestingly enough, what makes the composition stand out is that it appears to function effectively despite bypassing one of Velina’s key kit synergies: her Additional Ability.

Nangong Takes on an Unusual Main DPS Role

In most Anomaly-focused teams, Nangong usually serves as a sub-DPS, enabling very fast stuns and applying Corruption at record speeds, supporting traditional Anomaly on-field carries. However, in this new team taking the ZZZ community by storm, players have found that Nangong can function very effectively as the primary damage dealer.

The role shift is one of the main reasons the team has gained attention, as it directly contradicts how Nangong is typically used. Notably, Velina is one of the main reasons for this, due to how her unique Wind element transforms the idea of applying anomalies in ZZZ. This comes at a great cost to Velina, but not enough to matter for how effective players have discovered this team is in endgame content.

Why the Team Works Despite Broken Synergy

At first glance, the composition appears ineffective due to Velina Additional Ability not being active, which is highly important for a majority of teams in ZZZ. Additional Abilities usually provide characters with significant effects that should not be ignored. This remains true for Velina. However, players have discovered that the interaction between Wind’s Windswept Anomaly effect, Nangong’s extremely fast Anomaly application, and the Vortex status creates a powerful alternative synergy that negates the need for Velina’s Additional Ability.

Rather than rely on traditional kit bonuses, the team focuses entirely on constant Anomaly triggers and sustained damage uptime. Because Windswept removes the traditional cooldown on Anomaly triggers, Nangong can make full use of her fast Anomaly build-up to trigger Vortex in rapid succession, making her the main DPS of the team. Meanwhile, Yuzuha provides standard support utility, while Velina contributes through off-field effects that enhance team damage and Daze build-up, even without her passive conditions being met.

As a result, the composition functions effectively despite defying ZZZ’s typical team-build rules, making it one of the more surprising community discoveries of Version 3.0 so far. Players are continuing to test and refine the setup as the 3.0 meta develops, but the team has already sparked discussion due to its unexpected performance ceiling.
