One of the latest updates to Chrono Odyssey is an all-new system built around Monster Equipment. This new system allows players to obtain unique equipment that mirrors the appearance and characteristics of the monsters found throughout the world of Setera, and honestly – some of these appearances are pretty impressive (see below).
The Monster Equipment system in Chrono Odyssey seems to be aligned with their approach to a Transmog system within the game, with a slight twist as these specific pieces of equipment are directly associated with some of the more challenging foes you’ll face in Setera.
The development team at Chrono Odyssey also shared that this Monster Equipment will go beyond mere stats – they want players to be able to immerse themselves in the lore of Setera through world boss hunts, crafting, and even more quest completions, and the Monster Equipment system will support that goal.
The team also clarified that visual assets becoming obsolete goes completely against their design goals. Players will be able to extract the appearance of most in-game gear (including Monster Equipment) and apply it to other equipment via a dedicated wardrobe system. In other words, there won’t be a case where you get a piece of Monster Equipment that’s just entirely useless in the end game – it will be part of the greater Transmog system that Chrono Odyssey will have.
