Build Introduction
The Fire Bolt Sorcerer rapidly fires projectiles for a machine-gun playstyle. Fire Bolt always pierce to apply high Burning damage to multiple enemies.
Flameweaver provides additional projectiles for each cast of Firebolt to shotgun individual targets. The Fire Bolt Sorcerer is a top-tier build for boss killing, perfect for Uber Bosses and high Tiers of The Pit!
This endgame guide assumes your Sorcerer character is Level 60 and meets all the Build Requirements. Follow the Sorcerer Leveling Guide for help getting there.
Check the build tier lists to see how this build compares to others on Icy Veins.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- High single-target damage
- Ranged playstyle
- Easy to build
- Multiple Defensive Skills and Crowd Controls for survivability
- Burning damage needs to ramp up
- Firewall needs to be precasted before Fire Bolt (2-button playstyle to deal damage)
- Lacks survivability when Defensive Skills or Crowd Controls are inactive

Skill Bar and Skill Tree Points
The Skill Tree above shows the full allocation of 71 Skill Points for the Fire Bolt Sorceress build. Make sure you obtain the 12 Skill Points available from Renown.
Hoarfrost is always active against Staggered Bosses, because they count as being affected by all crowd control types.

Sorcerer Class Mechanic – Enchantments
Non-Ultimate Skills can be equipped in two available Enchantment Slots. A skill must have at least one skill point allocated to it in order to be used in the Enchantment Slot. Skill points that have been granted through gear work as well.
Slot Fireball in the first Enchantment Slot for explosions to help against groups of enemies.
Slot Teleport in the second Enchantment Slot to enable an Evade Teleport. Follow the Telestomp setup to further increase mobility to efficiently speed-farm content.
Gear, Stats, Gems, and Runes
The following sections cover the important systems that are essential to improving the power of your character in the endgame of Diablo 4.

For the best results, combine these Aspects with the ideal Stat Priorities.

Stat Priority and Tempering Affixes
Listed below are the affixes to prioritize on gear for Fire Bolt Sorcerers, ranked by importance. Affixes on the same line have equal value, so attempt to obtain all affixes in each line before moving on to the next. Bolded affixes are the most important targets for Masterworking upgrades. For more details, check the Tempering and Masterworking guides.
When comparing weapons of similar item levels, One-Handed Weapons are preferred over Two-Handed Weapons, as a Focus provides more beneficial utility affixes. A Dagger or a Wand is selected for the fastest weapon speed.
Critical Strike Damage is beneficial for Burning Instinct until the damage bonus is capped.
If you are using a speed setup with Teleport Enchantment, temper the Evade Cooldown Reduction affix from the Natural Motion Manual onto your Boots and Amulet. Otherwise, temper the Movement Speed or Teleport Cooldown Reduction affixes.
The priority order of Resistances is Lightning > Poison > Fire > Cold > Shadow. Maximum Resistance is 70% by default for each element and can be increased to 85% by various sources.
Armor is only needed until capped at 1,000.

Paragon Board

Boss Powers (Season 8)
In the Season of Belial’s Return (Season 8), equip the following Boss Powers to enhance this build.
Main — Hatred’s Embrace’s Haste: Casting a Shadow or Fire Skill grants [1.1%] increased Movement Speed for 3 seconds, up to [11%].
Modifier:
Lilith’s Wind of Hate: Hitting an Elite enemy with a Main Boss Power creates an inert Blister Clone with 10% of their Maximum Life for 15 seconds. Killing the Blister removes [2.1%] of the Elite’s Life. An Elite can have up to 1 Blister active at once, and a Boss can have up to 2 Blisters. Enemies with Resilience cannot spawn Blisters.
Sinerat’s Flames: Gain x [5%] increased damage to all Elements. For each 1% of an Element’s Resistance from bonuses, gain x0.2% increased damage for that Element, up to a maximum of x [15.5%].

Build Mechanics
The Fire Bolt Sorcerer focuses on scaling Burning damage, due to the Damage Over Time portion of Fire Bolt being much higher than the hit damage. Fire Bolt always pierces through enemies, and the newly added
Flameweaver greatly enhances the power of the Fire Bolt Sorcerer to become a top boss-killing build. All 3 projectiles from the unique effect can shotgun an individual target, stacking 3 sources of Burning damage from Fire Bolt per cast. The extra projectiles also provide more coverage to clear multiple enemies that are spread out.
The Fire Bolt Sorcerer needs to cast Firewall to split
Fire Bolt projectiles with
Flameweaver for maximum damage output. The playstyle requires a two-button rotation to deal damage, which can make the Fire Bolt Sorcerer slightly slower than other builds for clearing easy activities, like Helltides.
Vulnerable status is applied to by a Lucky Hit Chance to Make Enemies Vulnerable affix on a Ring.
3 buff stacks for Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop are granted through
Ice Armor,
Teleport and
Fire Bolt.
Critical Strike Damage is applied to Burning Damage with Burning Instinct from Paragon. This allows us to benefit from Critical Strike Damage on gear.
Rotation and Playstyle
Optimize damage output with the following rotation.
- Cast
Ice Armor to gain a third damage stack from
Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop.
- If you have
Raiment of the Infinite, cast
Teleport on top of enemies to group and Stun them.
- Cast
Firewall underneath the enemies closest to you.
- Activate
Inferno against tough elites and bosses to increase damage.
- Repeatedly spam
Fire Bolt through the
Firewall to shotgun enemies with 3 projectiles per cast.
- Cast
Flame Shield for protection when needed.
Elixirs
Visit the Alchemist in any main town to craft helpful Elixirs, or find Elixirs by killing enemies or opening chests during various activities in Diablo 4. Listed below are the best Elixirs to consume for the Fire Bolt Sorcerer, ranked by importance.
Elixir of Advantage is the most beneficial choice for damage output, if not already capped at 100% Attack Speed bonus from gear and Paragon.
Elixir of Fortitude is the best general-purpose option for survivability.
Telestomp with Raiment of the Infinite
Raiment of the Infinite allows the Incinerate Sorcerer to use 2 sources of
Teleport offensively. Teleporting on top of enemies to Stun and group them up is called “Telestomping”. This playstyle can quickly clear groups of enemies and keep them Crowd Controlled (CC) for safety, perfect for speed-farming Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and The Pit!
Use the following setup for the Telestomp Sorcerer.
- Equip
Raiment of the Infinite to enable Telestomps. Target-farm Raiment of the Infinite from Varshan or Lord Zir for the best chances of it dropping.
- Slot
Teleport into an Enchantment Slot.
- Equip Boots with the implicit effect, Attacks Reduce Evade’s Cooldown, which work with the Evade Teleport.
Shard of Verathiel Fire Bolt Sorcerer
The final version of the Fire Bolt Sorcerer utilizes Shard of Verathiel for a massive 3x damage multiplier, at the cost of 25 Primary Resource per cast. Mana is drained quickly from rapidly casting
Fire Bolt with a high Attack Speed, so the setup has strict requirements to function.
Make the following changes to the original version of the Fire Bolt Sorcerer to solve Mana issues:
- Equip a
Shard of Verathiel with at least a 150% value on the unique effect.
- Equip
Ring of Starless Skies.
- Equip a Legendary Focus with Lucky Hit Chance to Restore Primary Resource and Resource Cost Reduction affixes, preferably greater affixes.
- Prioritize tempering Resource Cost Reduction or Resource Generation from
Manual: Worldly Stability on any Legendary Jewelry.

Fists of Fate no longer applies random crowd controls.
Worldly Fortune can no longer apply any crowd control tempers.
