Why Diablo 4 Season 9 Feels Better Than Expected

Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim originally started off rough, with players speculating it would be underwhelming based on the PTR. However, Season 9 has surprisingly turned out to be one of the better seasons, despite early predictions.

That said, Season 9 still has its problems. Some players, including YouTuber Rob2628, have said the seasonal questline felt annoying and inconvenient.

Putting the story aside, players dislike having to travel all over the map in order to complete the seasonal questline, and much prefer Season 4 or 8’s approach.

Escalating Nightmares and Horadric Strongrooms are fun and offer valuable rewards, but they lose challenge in the very late game. This is because Legendary Escalation Sigils hard to find and only scale across three tiers. Players consider the changes to Nightmare Dungeons fun and a big success.

Class Balancing

Once again, despite early concerns about the state of class balance during the PTR phase, Season 9 has successfully shaken up the meta. New popular and strong builds have emerged, such as Hydra Sorcerer, Poison Thorns Spiritborn, & Pulverize Druid.

Yet, the overcall class balance isn’t perfect, Rogue is clearly the weakest class this season and needs some major buffs.

Diablo IV Barbarian, Sorceress, Rogue

While it’s nice to see the meta shift every season, the constant nerfs between seasons are becoming frustrating and exhausting. This was especially true with the recent Overpower nerfs.

Despite all this, the top-performing classes still have multiple builds that can push endgame effectively this season. So, if you’re tired of playing Basic Cleave Barbarian, you can try Mighty Throw, or if Blood Wave Necromancer isn’t for you, try Shadow Blight.

Pit Changes

The Pit did receive some changes during Season 9, but were they good? The Pit’s overall difficulty was slightly lowered this season, making it easier to reach Tier 100.

While that’s a welcome change, easier climbs should come with better rewards beyond Tier 100. A simple, but major improvement would be increasing the Mythic drop rate for players clearing beyond Tier 100.

What did you think of Diablo 4’s ninth season? Did you enjoy it, or were you hoping for different changes?
