The Crucible of the Unbroken, an exclusive challenge for Beastmasters

Good day or evening, Warriors of Light! We hope the 24-hour maintenance period passed by somewhat quickly for you. As you may remember, FFXIV introduced the Beastmaster job in Patch 7.56, and with it, the Crucible of the Unbroken, a solo challenge mode. Today with Patch 7.57, we have adjustments for the Crucible and info on Season 1 of Crucible Rankings!

When a new mode is introduced in a video game, you can usually count on unusual bugs and, eventually, timely fixes. With the latest maintenance, the developers made the following changes to the Crucible of the Unbroken:

  • The mode selected before starting a board will be saved temporarily. The mode used in the previous attempt will be set as the default. This will be in effect until you log out.
  • Familiars will be registered to battlehorns automatically if your team has three or fewer familiars before entering enemy spaces.
  • If one or more battlehorns is unassigned, the warning prompt will be set to “No” by default before entering enemy spaces.
  • The score for defeating elite enemies has been increased by 175 points, from 625 to 800.
  • The score bonus “Sleepless Survival” has been increased by 625 points from 375 to 1,000.

Additionally, the FFXIV team has resolved many minor issues in the game. You can check those out in the patch notes.

Crucible Rankings Details

The first season of Crucible Rankings will run from Sunday, October 25th at 1 a.m. (EDT) to late November 2026. There will also be a pre-season phase, after which Season 2 will begin. Square Enix, however, also says that the “season starting and ending times are subject to change.”

Scores for Crucible Rankings will be recorded on your home world (Cactuar on NA or Ragnarok on EU, for example). Rankings will be aggregated in each physical data center. In other words, your scores will be competing against those of other players in the same region (Japan, North America, Europe, or Oceania).

It’s important to note that if you want to enable your scores for rankings, you must set the Crucible mode to the third degree. You must also check the “Participate in rankings” option. Failure to do either of these will prevent you from being eligible for season rewards. Ranking scores will be compiled from the last three attempts of each board.

You can check your Crucible Rankings score by speaking with Lauda in the Central Shroud at X:21.9, Y:22.8. The top 300 players in each physical data center will receive vouchers for their season rewards through the Moogle delivery service at the end of the season. Standings are updated daily. 🥇🥈🥉
