Released on July 28, Patch 7.55 dropped the next installment of Dawntrail quests, new Phantom Jobs, and many other additions. One of these is the new area of North Horn, which has its own secret zone called the Dark Territory.

One Final Fantasy XIV player, u/Abramor on the FFXIV subreddit, stumbled upon this eerie location. Understandably, other players might miss it because the staircase leading to the bottom floor isn’t marked on the map. Here’s how to get to it and what you’ll find.

How to Enter the Secret Area in North Horn

First, you’ll have to complete the Dawntrail MSQ and the South Horn quests up to the Occult Reunion quest. You’ll then be able to unlock the North Horn.

Once you’ve arrived in the North Horn, search for the Unhallowed Hamlet (X:21.3, Y:19.6) on the central island. You can access the settlement via the bridge connecting the north part of the island to the rest of the landmass. Make your way to the house at X:16.8, Y:22.9.

You’ll see a flight of stairs in front of you; go down them to X:15.9, Y:25.7. An eerie hole in the wall large enough for you to walk through awaits. A couple of commenters on the aforementioned Reddit post recommended equipping the Ninja Job and using the Hide ability. However, you can avoid enemies without using Hide if you channel your inner ninja and are stealthy enough.

Once you’re inside, hauntingly beautiful Gothic organ music and a monochrome landscape greet you. If you’ve played Final Fantasy XI, then this subzone might remind you of the Promyvion areas. Several Level 47 Crescent Succubi are your first potential enemies, so be careful. ⚠

If you venture deep enough, you’ll also find a Silver Chest. We won’t tell you what else lies in the secret area in North Horn, as that would take away all the fun of finding out!

What to Do After the Dark Territory

When you’ve finished exploring the secret area in North Horn, you can partake in many other activities in the region. Among them are participating in FATEs to obtain Magic Pots and completing the Forked Tower: Magic large-scale raid. Or you can try to nab the now-sellable Magic Bucket minion through the Market Board.

Personally, I feel that the developers should slip in more unconventional and hidden areas in FFXIV. Whether they actually will or not, however, is another question. Enjoy exploring the Dark Territory, Warriors of Light!
