Ninja Job Guide for FFXIV — Endwalker 6.5
Ninja is a melee DPS job in Final Fantasy XIV that uses their ninjutsu to weave and combine the power of the land, the air, and living beings, to decimate their foes. They can only be played after reaching Level 30 on Rogue and completing the quest for their job stone.
What is Ninja's Playstyle?
Ninja is a dual-dagger wielding melee job that revolves around a
huge burst every minute with Trick Attack,
and then once it ends, setting ourselves up for the next Trick Attack.
In Trick Attack, we currently do a large portion of our damage,
making us one of, if not the burstiest, job in the game.
Ninja is one of the jobs with the highest amount of contribution to the raid from raid buffs.
Mug is the reason why Ninja does so well in buffing the raid. Our main gameplay
loop is built around us pooling as much Ninki and abilities as we can for each Trick Attack window,
and using as much of it as possible inside the extra damage window given to us by Trick Attack, which
is buffed even more since that is also lined up with our Mug raid buff. Our Mudra abilities are our most
unique abilities, letting us choose different options for our attacks, based on what is needed. We can choose
between area-of-effect attacks, both over time and instant, buffs to ourselves, or straight damage at different
ranges. There is a decently high barrier to entry because of our Mudras, but once you get past
that it pretty much plays itself. Due of the ranged nature of our Ninjutsus and them having charges,
Ninja is the most flexible and most mobile of all the melee dps.
Ninja Strengths and Weaknesses
Very high burst damage in both single-target and multi-target situations.
Very mobile with use of
Shukuchi,
Fleeting Raiju, and
Forked Raiju.
Easily able to act as a pseudo-ranged job during burst since our Ninjutsus and
Phantom Kamaitachi are ranged.
Mediocre damage outside of
Trick Attack windows.
Does not have good consistent multi-target damage.
Very reliant on your party taking advantage of the damage buff from
Mug in order to compete with other melee dps.
How do you Unlock Ninja?
In order to unlock Ninja, you must first unlock Rogue. To unlock Rogue, you must be at least level 10 on a class, then you have to go to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x:8.1 y:16.1) and finish the quest "My First Daggers". This will allow you to change to the Rogue class. Then, once you get to level 30, you have to go back to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x:8.1 y:16.1) to get the quest "Peasants by Day, Ninjas by Night". Completing this will give you the Soul of the Ninja, allowing you to become a Ninja.
Ninja Gauges
Ninja has two gauges, the Huton Gauge(top) and the Ninki Gauge(bottom). The Huton
Gauge is just used to keep track of how much time is left on your Huton buff. The
Ninki Gauge keeps track of how much Ninki you have. You gain Ninki by using your
weaponskills and abilities like Mug and
Meisui. You
will then use Ninki on
Bunshin,
Bhavacakra, and
Hellfrog Medium.
