Are the Fontaine Chronicled Wish Characters Worth It in Genshin Impact?

With Luna VI on the way, Genshin Impact is finally getting its Fontaine Chronicled Wish banner, and it is already raising a few eyebrows.

For those who have not kept up, Chronicled banners are those region-based rerun banners featuring multiple 5-star characters at once. Usually, you will have a few of the most important characters of that specific region. On paper, it is a great way to catch up on older characters, however, this banner does use your limited-banner wishes, so you have to be careful who you pull for.

A Fontaine Banner Without Its Biggest Names

This time around, the Chronicled Wish includes the following Fontaine characters:

Overall, it is not a bad lineup at all, but it is hard not to notice who is missing.

Some expected names are just not here, and many players do not really understand why. The most obvious case is Wriothesley, whose absence feels especially weird given how these banners usually work. The most likely explanation is that he is probably being saved for a more traditional rerun soon, or simply is not popular enough in general, and far from being part of any “meta” composition.

Another character missing is Arlecchino, who is technically from Fontaine, so she should be featured there as well. Our personal guess is just that Arlecchino is doing well enough on her own banner, and so they did not feel like she needed to be featured on any Chronicled Wish.

On top of that, usually, Chronicled wish banners rerun with the region’s Archon, but this time, neither Furina nor Neuvillette is rerunning at the same time. All of that leaves this Chronicle banner feeling a bit incomplete.

Is Anyone Worth It?

To give you a short answer: yes, but it depends a lot on what you need. If you are looking for safe, strong pulls, two characters mostly stand out:

  • Navia
    • She is still one of the most reliable Geo DPS options right now. With Luna VI boosting Crystallize-related gameplay, she fits perfectly into the current meta. On top of that, she is just easy to play and does not require overly strict setups.
  • Clorinde
    • Probably the most “fun” pick on the banner. Fast, fluid gameplay, solid damage, and flexible team options like Quickbloom or Electro-Charged. She is not just strong, but she also feels good to play.

If you are hesitating, those two are the safest bets.

Emilie is a bit more niche, but not bad at all either. If you are interested in Burning teams, she is one of the most important enablers and can make that playstyle genuinely viable. That said, if you are not planning to build around Burning, she loses a lot of value.

The last two options are a bit more specific. If you like them, you can go for them, but otherwise, they are definitely not the best choice if you are looking for the most useful characters. Sigewinne works as a healer with a little support, but the overall impact is pretty low. You have a ton of better and more efficient options out there.

And finally, Lyney is not necessarily weak, but very specific as well when you look at the teams he can fit in, and his gameplay is not for everyone either, so unless you really like him, he is hard to recommend over other DPS options.

A Skippable Chronicled Wish Overall

Overall, the Fontaine Chronicled Wish is not bad and arguably better than some past region banners.

But it is also a bit confusing and skippable. The value is mostly carried by a couple of characters, and the rest of them feel either too specific or underwhelming, and with some important characters missing, it does not quite feel like a “complete” Fontaine roster.
