Wriothesley Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Wriothesley build guide for Genshin Impact. Wriothesley is a 5-Star Cryo Main DPS Character who deals massive Cryo DMG and specializes in Melt and Freeze. As a Fontaine character, Wriothesley can also effectively use Ousia. In our guide, we will cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Wriothesley, from building the best Artifacts and Weapons to important stat priorities and rotations.

Best Weapons for Wriothesley

Listed below are Wriothesley's best weapons. While weapons are listed in a priority order, what is best to build on your Wriothesley can vary depending on the team composition and level of investment you want to put into Wriothesley.

Cashflow Supervision

Golden Blood-Tide

Base ATK: 674

CRIT Rate: 22.1%

ATK is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32%. When current HP increases or decreases, Normal Attack DMG is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32%, Charged Attack DMG is increased by 14% / 17.5% / 21% / 24.5% / 28%, and Stellar-Conduct DMG is increased by 14% / 17.5% / 21% / 24.5% / 28% for 4s. Max 3 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.3s. When the wielder has 3 stacks, ATK SPD will be increased by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16%.

Cashflow Supervision is Wriothesley's signature weapon and will be his best in slot build option. It is perfectly fitting for Wriothesley as it plays with his HP fluctuations and increases his Normal and Charged ATK DMG, which is what Wriothesley uses the most
Tulaytullah's Remembrance

Bygone Azure Teardrop

Base ATK: 674

CRIT DMG: 44.1%

Normal Attack SPD is increased by 10% / 12.5% / 15% / 17.5% / 20%. After the wielder unleashes an Elemental Skill, Normal Attack DMG will increase by 4.8% / 6% / 7.2% / 8.4% / 9.6% every second for 14s. After hitting an opponent with a Normal Attack during this duration, Normal Attack DMG will be increased by 9.6% / 12% / 14.4% / 16.8% / 19.2%. This increase can be triggered once every 0.3s. The maximum Normal Attack DMG increase per single duration of the overall effect is 48% / 60% / 72% / 84% / 96%. The effect will be removed when the wielder leaves the field, and using the Elemental Skill again will reset all DMG buffs.

Tulaytullah's Remembrance is a great 5-Star option for Wriothesley providing increased Normal Attack SPD and a huge Normal Attack DMG bonus.
The Widsith

Debut

Base ATK: 510

CRIT DMG: 55.1%

When the character takes the field, they will gain a random theme song for 10s. This can only occur once every 30s. Recitative: ATK is increased by 60% / 75% / 90% / 105% / 120%. Aria: Increases all Elemental DMG by 48% / 60% / 72% / 84% / 96%. Interlude: Elemental Mastery is increased by 240 / 300 / 360 / 420 / 480.

The Widsith is the best 4-star weapon you can use on Wriothesley if you have it at R5. It gives a good CRIT DMG bonus, and when your character is on-field he obtains an additional massive ATK bonus, Elemental DMG, or Elemental Mastery bonus, depending on the song you get.
Other Catalyst Options

-

On top of the listed options, Wriothesley can effectively utilise a very wide range of 5-Star Catalysts with examples being:
Flowing Purity

Unfinished Masterpiece

Base ATK: 565

ATK: 27.6%

When using an Elemental Skill, All Elemental DMG Bonus will be increased by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% for 15s, and a Bond of Life worth 24% of Max HP will be granted. This effect can be triggered once every 10s. When the Bond of Life is cleared, every 1,000 HP cleared in the process will provide 2% / 2.5% / 3% / 3.5% / 4% All Elemental DMG Bonus, up to a maximum of 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%. This effect lasts 15s.

Flowing Purity is the best F2P weapon you can use on Wriothesley since you can simply craft it and it does provide some good bonuses as well.
Other Catalyst Options

-

On top of the listed options, Wriothesley can also use the following 4-Star Catalysts:

Best Artifacts for Wriothesley

Marechaussee Hunter

Marechaussee Hunter

2-Piece Set: Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15%

4-Piece Set: When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks.

Wriothesley's build works best with the Marechaussee Hunter Artifact set fitting perfectly into his toolkit. It is also a set that a lot of characters can use, so it is always worth farming it. But since it does increase his Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 15% and when his HP fluctuates (which it will do constantly) his CRIT Rate is also increased. He can easily maintain the stacks up.

Wriothesley's Stat Priority

Sands of Eon: ATK %
Circlet of Logos: CRIT DMG / CRIT Rate
Substats: CRIT Rate/DMG > ATK % > Elemental Mastery > Energy Recharge

Wriothesley's Energy Recharge requirements are in theory very low, unless you really want to be able to use his Burst every rotation. Know that it is not necessary to Burst every rotation with Wriothesley. However, if you still wish to do so, you will need around 200 %+ Energy Recharge. If you are ok with Bursting only every few rotations, then 100 % energy regeneration will be enough.

Recommended Stats for Wriothesley

Build recommendations assume a "decently built" level of artifact rolls alongside Wriothesley's best weapon. Using other weapons may increase or decrease certain stats relative to these recommendations.

ATK: 2000 - 2200
CRIT Rate: 40-60%
CRIT DMG: 200-240%

Wriothesley needs as much ATK and CRIT as possible. Since you get a good CRIT Rate bonus from Marechaussee Hunter, you should be able to focus on CRIT DMG on the Circlet. However, if you use any other Artefact, you might need more CRIT Rate on your stats.

Wriothesley's Talent Priority

Talent Priority: Forceful Fists of Frost > Icefang Rush > Darkgold Wolfbite

Wriothesley's most important talents to level is his Normal Attack since all his DMG comes from there. After that you want to level his Elemental Skill since it will increase his Normal Attack further. You should also level up his Burst, but it does not need to be max level.

How to Play Wriothesley

Wriothesley's damage comes mostly from his Forceful Fists of Frost: This attack allows him to deal up to 5 Cryo DMG. Using your Elemental skill in between will not reset the combo, however, if you wait too long to hit again it will reset.

Forceful Fists of Frost can be enhanced through Wriothesley’s Elemental Skill Icefang Rush. The Elemental skill also increases your resistance to interruption, and if Wriothesley’s HP is above 50% it will:

  • Increase the Normal Attack DMG
  • When you hit with the enhanced attacks, Wriothesley will loose HP

To remedy the loss of HP, Wriothesley’s Charged Attack will be used. The Charged Attack unleashes a small AoE attack, and thanks to the There Shall Be a Plea for Justice passive, if you do the Charged attack when Wriothesley HP is under 60%, it will be enhanced as well:

  • Enhanced Charged Attacks do not consume stamina
  • Enhanced Charged Attacks deal more damage
  • Enhanced Charged Attacks heal you

You should use your Charged Attack when you are under Icefang Rush and under 60% HP in order to launch an extremely powerful charged attack that costs no stamina and heals you back up.

His Elemental Burst on the other side is rather straight forward. Darkgold Wolfbite will activate Wriothesley’s Gauntlet and launch a Cryo attack in front of him. This attack hits in AoE and will also deal Ousia DMG.

It is important to note that Wriothesley's C1 makes his rotation a lot smoother, as is will allow Wriothesley to trigger his There Shall Be a Plea for Justice through normal attacks, regarding of the amount of HP left.

Wriothesley's Combo

The proper rotation for C0 Wriothesley is:

  1. Icefang Rush
  2. x3 Forceful Fists of Frost
  3. 1 Charged Attack

You can use his Burst when it is available. If you have C1+ Wriothesley you can use 5 Forceful Fists of Frost each time instead of 3.

Be careful in Mono-Cryo teams as his Charged Attack Shatters Frozen enemies.

Wriothesley's Best Constellations

Wriothesley is perfectly viable at C0, however, his C1 adds real comfort to his gameplay, as well as much higher damage. The rest of his Constellations are very good as well, but you can do just fine at C1 max. If you want to invest, his C1 is really the best thing you can get. At C0 he is a bit harder to play.

Investment Priority: Constellation 1 > Weapon > Constellation 6
